Most of Y'all are right, "No Homo" isn't a gay slur, but still him using it is unprofessional, and goes further than him just trying to "Let people know he aint gay"
Really, you think it was necessary for him to throw a No Homo in a publicized worldwide interview on national TV after saying "Lebron Stretched me out"? People knew what he meant, this isn't some conversation with your boys where they might clown you for saying some borderline gay shyt... Fact is, he cursed, used a phrase that could offend people (no matter if everyone takes it that way or not) and even had an abrasive, careless attitude about it by saying "I don't care if I get fined". He should know how to be professional, and realize that saying shyt like that is just gonna stir up some controversy and bring unwanted and unnecessary attention to him and his organization, before the biggest game possible.

2) ...still, if that interview was on just a little later at night just on NBA TV - a pay channel - there would be nothing wrong with it. They said and did much worse on The Sopranos, Dexter, and The Wire - and people love those shows.

Homo is a gay slur in 2013. You tell someone "hey, you homo", gay folks get offended. So going out of your way to say "no homo" in a live, televised press conference, then stop what you're saying and laugh at it, drawing attention to it, is going to be interpreted as a very anti-gay gesture. He wasn't simply proclaiming that he like women, and even if he was, there was no place for that in the press conference, its irrelevant. I'm sure most of the media folks weren't even aware that "no homo" is a phrase like that in the Hop Hop community and just took it for face value of what it was: going out of his way to interrupt his basketball answer to make a crude reference to shytting on homosexuality.
If he would've just said "pause" or "ayo" instead, I doubt they would've even picked up on it and it'd be a non-issue. He still would've gotten fined for his other comment but he knew that was coming.
