I'm at work listening to local radio, just listening to the friday night football scores, and they interrupt the programing to report on kid who had to leave the field in critical condition...

:mjcry:

Apparently, the kid lead with his head during a punt return is what they said on the radio.

What it sounded like is that he was going after the returner and caught a blocker out of the corner of his eye about to light him up and the young buck dropped his head.

:merchant:

Lil man died at hospital :to:

Update: Franklin Parish High School player dies from football injury

I hate shyt like this, I can't even get mad that my nephew what's no parts of this.
:wow:

that's some sad shyt.

this is why i can't see football lasting forever. parents aren't going to want to send out their kids and risk their current health(and especially their future health) for a sport where they don't even have guaranteed contracts. :martin:

Agreed it's very sad but disagree with the rest. Football is too ingrained in the American story. While some parents will keep their kids off the field, so many more will dam near push their kids onto it. Especially in these places like Texas, Oklahoma, Florida, etc. Football is like a religion in these places. It ain't going nowhere. And while the NFL doesn't have guaranteed contracts, the vast majority of these guys are making more in just one year in football than they would make in 5 in their second career option. Let's be real...there are dudes making a million dollars this year who if it wasn't for football would be asking "Would you like to super size that?"

you make this seem like its an every day occurrence

I'm not trying to but it happens all over the country and not just football either.

It does make me wonder tho, because that could've been any of us when we were playing...I remember coming home from college having to break my lil brother leading with his head.

At my hospital they had a kid overheat and die from complications no one knew he had, the kid was strong as an ox.

I think what happened tonight was a freak accident...I just suck when it happens.

And why is the talk about these incidents will make football go away but not other sports like auto racing? Seems like somebody dies in that sport every year. Not only that but even fans get injured when there's a wreck and car parts fly into the stands.

Football should be banned.

I wouldn't go that far...I would say, don't push ya kid to play football if he doesn't want to.

If he wanna play then give him game, tell him the truth about it, its violent, you can't be scared, you gotta be alert, know your job, keep your head on a swivel because nikkas are tryna make their name at your expense and vice versa, theres is high chance you will eventually get hurt, your coach may or may not give a fukk about you...

Most of all, know the difference between giving 110% and you hurting yourself longterm, know your limits.

Self-preservation is the first law of nature.
