duncan in the 80's is brad daughterty with better defense
What a stupid insult. That's like saying, "Lebron is just Scottie Pippen with better offense." :heh:

The whole point of Duncan's greatness is that he's great on BOTH ends. Daughterty was a really solid offensive player and it carried him to 5 All-star nods in just an 8 year career, he was getting MVP votes. Even though he was too soft, he was still the best player in the 1986 draft.

Duncan was a better version of Daughterty on offense AND he was one of the most dominant defensive players in the league.

I think Duncan the most underrated player . Almost no one mentions him in top 5 convo although he should be.
Thats because the top 5 is that good that the best powerforward of all time is not in it. It is no knock on duncan bro

It is a slight and it's only because he wasn't a flashy player and didn't play in a big market. If he did what he did in LA, NY, or Boston the media would be damn near trying to argue him for greatest of all time.

Close as hell but probably taking Magic for intangibles. Dude was one of the greatest leaders if not the greatest the league has seen. I was sold on that after reading about the Dream Team and how the entire team answered to Magic and in a game of some of the greatest in the league it boiled down to Magic versus Jordan.

On court even though he put up such huge assists numbers he wasn't a ball pounder like a lot of the current PGs. I loved that he pushed the ball, tried to attack and find an opening and if it wasn't there he came up off the rock and let Kareem or Worthy or even a McAdoo or other greats he played with go to work. Even his last year being able to take those Lakers to the finals showed how great he was offensively.

Duncan needs credit for anchoring a 50 game winner for 20 years straight. Great offensively and defensively. Able to mold his game for whatever his team needed. Allowed Pop to switch the offense multiple times with him fitting in every time. Carried a few horrible teams to titles. An all time defender that doesn't get credit due to not making the flashy defensive plays. But one of the greats at contesting without jumping and knowing perfect positioning on defense. I probably got Duncan 5 or 6 and Magic 3 or 4 but it's close as hell and Duncan definitely doesn't get enough props.

It’s interesting that Kareem is considered better than Magic when Magic was the best player on those teams. Also Kareem’s best years were in the 70’s which are considered the worst decade of the league. Lastly, Magic’s career was cut short and still has just absolutely ridiculous numbers.

Also, do we actually know that Magic wasn’t a good defender or do people just say that.

1. Jordan
2. Shaq
3. TD
4. Magic
5. Kareem
