its been almost a year and half since he won, and the speculation on investing and tax cuts and a more favorable business atmosphere began, and we're seeing the positive effects of it. i get it that he's a piece of shyt, but if you're gonna sit around and deny economic reality because he said mexicans are rapists then this discussion is an absolute joke

Yeah, but suppose last year wasn't an election year, and Obama was still in office. What makes you think these numbers would have not looked like this regardless? How do you even quantify this supposed "Trump effect" you want to give him credit for.

IMO and generally speaking, there's not too much the president can do to completely fukk up the stock market... and as such shouldn't be the primary criteria by which we judge their performance.

It's not that facts are being disregarded; it's that you're giving too much weight to certain facts while swatting aside other pertinent ones.

Trump's controversies, including the ongoing Russia investigation, obstruction of justice, racism, sexism, rolling back civil rights protections for minorities by only focusing on immigrant crimes, and paying off porn stars with hush money aren't insignificant details. They're important--I would say critical--details, but you're treating them like they're business as usual.

My 401k jumped this year and I'm glad, but that doesn't improve Trump's rating in my eyes. Especially since his presidency and the passage of the tax bill had nothing to do with that rise.

I laugh at the MAGA crowd, whose jobs are still gone, propping up a stock market surge that hasn't benefited them at all a sign of progress.
