Y'all are missing a very obvious, vital point. New artist can not cross over to other demos because there is no mono culture anymore. New rappers aren't going to make it on teenage white kids playlist now that they are heavy into country and white girl pop.

There are plenty of young rap stars within in the culture. Measuring new artist by how well they cross over doesn't work in 2025

Problem with this argument is that hip hop remains the most popular genre largely thanks to young white people. There are a lot of white people in this country. Enough for a shyt ton to listen to country and a shyt ton to listen to rap. And there's some intersection there too.

That’s because of old artist that have been building a fanbase on a mainstream level for a long time. Not new artist

Zillionaire Doe isn’t being heard by white people like Uzi was in 2016

White people taste have changed and music becomes more curated to personal taste each year

I'm SO happy that I haven't depended on mainstream hip hop artists for a minute now so now it just feels normal to me. Add to the fact that battle basically fukked mainstream hip hop all up. It is what it is tho cause this shyt needed a reset anyway. Maybe all the fakes will move the fukk on.
Nah mainstream Hip Hop was already fukked all the way up before the battle. There was countless articles how (Mainstream Hip Hop) was declining in popularity and all that shyt. Same circle of rappers up top that was all trying to sound the same.
Also it feels like "rage" music has taken over the youth, so there is that as well :francis:

This thread is funny because when new artists are posted in this forum it’s always the same small group of posters talking about them.

Be real most of so called rap fans don’t like rap :yeshrug: They only like their idea of what it’s supposed to be. Motherfukkers complain about everything and are the first ones in arms screaming how whack shyt is but never when good things occur. Never supporting shyt.

fukk it it is what it is at this point. We’re too far gone.

I was about to tag you @CrimsonTider @Playaz Eyez @ISO and the handful of others, they know who they are, who I know for sure talk about new artists and actually try to push the new artists even if yall don’t like them.

It’s too late to do something about it imo :yeshrug: I hope I’m wrong cause I genuinely love hip hop

Music popularity these days is dominated by who women are listening to. All the female rappers have been flopping left and right. It was dumb to put so much effort behind them. White girls moved on to pop acts.

These guys aren’t fans of rap music, I don’t know how you can complain about music in 2025. There’s plenty of output no matter what your taste are

Females haven’t been flopping. First week sales are irrelevant for new artist,
