Since when does mind blowing lyrics & original production be the be all end all for making for classic albums? There's plenty of classic albums without either of those. And who cares about what critics think

I just turned 30 last month. What you're saying is partially correct but the music is still relatively trash. The quality and skill level of today's artist is lacking and that's undeniable. Our ears are just used to better music. We not only grew up with good Hip Hip but the entire music scene was just top tier. There was no debate on "who's trash" because nobody you heard that was a major player was trash. Everybody had some type of skill. Now the bar is set so low you have above average rappers being labeled as Hip Hop messiahs when they're really not that special when you but em under the magnifying glass.
