From a mixing and mastering perspective,

1. 2001 - Dr. Dre (1999)
2. All Eyez on Me - 2Pac (1996)
3. Trauma - DJ Quik (2005)
4. Doggystyle - Snoop Dogg (1993)
5. The Chronic - Dr. Dre (1992)

great list, props on listing Trauma

There's also albums that are not meant to be sonicaly perfect, and the producer and engineer purposly record them tracks with dirt because the artist want it to sound grimy. That's the case with Illmatic, 36th chambers and east coast 90's albums in general

All of Illmatic was recorded in some of NY's most high-end studios :smughov:

Em's Relapse. Not saying the album nor the beats were that great, but purely from an engineering standpoint, the whole package sounded clean and crisp.
