My personal interest has gone to different things..

I'm not sure anything is wrong with it I'm just not as interested in new music as I once was..

I'm at a point now where I'm kinda only interested in AAA video games. If ain't God Of War, Last of Us, etc., I'm not really interested.

Same with rap.. It's has to be extremely high quality to hold my attention, something I felt they took time to craft. I don't really casually listen anymore

A lot of the new gen rappers to carry the torch from the Big 3 got locked up or passed. But I will say if you only listen to the radio yeah you might think it's dead but in an era where there's so much accessibility for every type of subgenre in the space, then it can't really be "dead". It's just a different era, nikkas ain't sitting around the radio listening to Hot 97 or reading the Source mags.

Also this forum still debates Nas vs Hov :mjlol:

You're not gonna get an accurate portrayal with this archaic level of thinking. It's only a few younger brehs on here that actually contribute to what people are listening to.
The Booth won’t understand how big Juice and X were really supposed be.

The big 3 wouldn’t be at the center of the culture in the same way right now had things played out differently.

Carti and Destroy Lonely’s current popularity is only fraction of what those other two were supposed to do.

A lot of young popping artists that would've been today's superstars were killed or jailed so that doesn't help the situation either.
A small push back on this and I've seen a few others say it as well....every era of hip hop has had a few icons die going back to Scott La Rock....the music never stopped being high level. Truthfully, even saying that as the reason, further highlights how weak the era is

Theres only 10 rappers who matter rn

Games on the ug. I know multi artists who nicer than everyone with a name that rather just make music to themselves.

People wanna make music not do all the other shyt you have to do to go with it.

Burn out on our side and rapper side.

1) The music industry is over saturated. Theres too many artist and the bar had never been lower.

2) lack of artist development is showing. Why does someone with one hit song doing a festival the next month? They don’t dance, can’t sing, write music, just doing karaoke for an expensive ass ticket.

3) the streaming era is a double edged sword. It made music released easier to get but less significant for the average album.

4) there are no new modern superstars in rap. Most of the people dominating the charts are 30 and up with a good time spent on the mainstream level. Lil Baby looked like the leader of the new school but that’s not the case .

I think we have more of a Coli problem than a hip hop problem. This forum has been full of very weird behavior from the same 7-10 accounts who constantly post about Kendrick and Drake nonstop. Everyone here knows I'm a Kdot stan, I am NOT shytting on him. I'm talking about these weirdos, most of whom have negative rep. We're almost at the halfway point of the year and damn near every day on the Booth has revolved around nonstop Kendrick threads/comments on the front page. Not even NEWS or noteworthy shyt, either. Just pure engagement farming and spam posts. Or if it's news it's constantly repetitive. We needed 3+ threads about how much a concert date grossed? What are we doing...

In terms of rap...Boldy been dropping, billy woods dropped, etc.
At least we don't have to sit through jay Nas threads anymore. We sat through 24 years of that garbage. 1 year of Drake dot is fine

It’s ain’t dead, nikkas just got old.

Billy Woods, MIKE, Fly Anakin, Boldy James, Larry June/2 Chainz/Alchemist, Goya Gombani, Saba have all dropped decent projects this year, but you would never have known about it just by looking at the The Booth; they seem to only be concerned about stuff about rappers who debuted in the 80s/90s.
