I never seen two rappers with as differing opinions on them as these 2 guys. I've read on other online places too besides The Coli. Lotta people love Al's raps and hate them. And think they're in the middle. Lotta people love Hit's raps and hate them. And lotta people think they're in the middle. '

It does seem most people like this project, though, but the differences and spectrum in opinions on both of their raps is all over the map.

From what it seems...Alc's rap style especially since 2022 when he started rapping again on 60 Days (after almost a decade long hiatus) is far more stylized, which leads to a lot of polarization. It's more like Roc Marci's flow, and that same over stylized flow also turns some others off due to them seeing it as derivative or copying. And not everyone like's Roc's flow. Hit-Boy's rapping is a more easily digestible, and a more traditional, which is easy on the ears, but the people that dislike it consider it more bland and generic.

@bigdaddy88 I'm tagging you because I added a paragraph after you dapped

On an unrelated note, Home Improvement is my favorite song on here, for sure.

I can't comprehend how there's so much critics on their raps when a lot of people tolerated Kanye's early raps. Now Ye with time added much more emotions on his raps and his voice so that made him an good rapper over the years.

Only thing I can say about alc and hit raps is they are very generic. It's not great but it's not bad either. It's pretty neutral. They also have the advantage of having good voices. I rather hear them than let's say Dave east or Tony yayo voice wise

That's a good point re: Kanye. His early raps were largely hated on super harsh online. Lots of corny bars and corny delivery. I actually always thought a lot of his raps were corny even though I still for some reason enjoyed his raps, and obviously he made classic albums. I also love producer-rappers in general. Dilla is one of fave rappers regardless of producer rapper or not, and Jaylib is one of my favorite projects ever, even though no one thinks that album is lyrically a classic by any stretch.

I just think producers have such a unique approach to rhyming due to making beats...I don't even care that most of them aren't super lyrical. If they got a cool voice and a halfway decent or interesting flow then I'm all in if the beats are dope.

I swear, I had that same thought earlier today. Producer/rappers that make dope beats can get away with more than dope rappers, because no matter how dope you are rapping if the beat is trash that will automatically turn a lot of people away. People like Alc and Hit-Boy can get away with decent bars because their beats are more often than not fire.

I've noticed this too. It's easy to make fun of and it's a little bit ridiculous how exaggerated he was, but in an effort to extend some grace, when people live in the studio 24/7, or are around any small group of people all the time, they tend to adopt the same mannerisms, speech, etc. Many of us knew people that lived abroad for 6 months and came back with British accents. Were they faking it? Maybe.

Human beings want to fit in with the people around them. I imagine Al being around Mobb Deep/LOX/CNN/etc. every single day probably played a big factor in the first video.

Whenever I hear Hit-Boy rap it just feels…unnecessary. His flow is not distinctive, he’s not saying anything interesting. I understand his friends let him rock because they want to keep getting beats (Dom Kennedy, Nas, etc.)

I just wish he’d read the room and realize him spitting is not what the game needs.

I said the same defense to one of my homies that was saying the same thing about Alc raps, which is that I feel you, but on the other hand, what's the problem?

Like, Hit-Boy and ALC are both producing a ton of music for other artists the past few years. I'd understand the annoyance if they weren't dropping any music with other cats and then were doing this. Then it'd feel like a waste of time. But it's not as if we aren't getting other HB and Alc music due to this Goldfish project.

I don't think Hit-Boy is rapping because he wants to change the game or become some high caliber emcee. He's got thoughts and words from the heart to share, and a platform to do it. His catalogue IMO has earned him the right to be selfish and have fun and express himself on a project here and there. It's art. He ain't as good as Nas but who cares is my point of view.
