I can kind of see where OP is coming from. These days, getting a smash hit will allow you to eat a lot longer than someone with a critically acclaimed album that no one hears. You can live off that album but your earning potential greater if you make hit records than classic records. So if all you care about is the money then obviously hit records are the better route and it does take talent.

Flo-Rida is eating better than AZ.

Krea whatever did not have chart-topping hits like Flo Rida. She had some corny shyt that got bumped in like 3 places. I never heard that song until I came online. But I don't even like Flo RIda, I'm just making the point.

Are you saying that you'd rather hear a hit record over a classic album? :usure: Cause that's the only thing that really should matter to listeners.

Who cares which makes a artist more money?

Hit records do more for an artist career and pockets than a classic Album ever could

Rack City >> whatever new underground artist album that yall recently claim a classic.

Tyga Purchases $6.5 Million Mansion In Kardashian’s Neighbor Hood (Pictures)

I hate the term "classic" anyway, but that's another thread.

I just think this fact needs to be mentioned. I also think a lot of Hip Hop heads don't give credit to rappers that can constantly make hits. Rap music changes so fast so to be able produced hits with every release is talent.

Jay z, Wayne and Kanye come to mind.

Good for him...Now lets see if he can keep it...

Okay...

But what makes them "classic" to you should be the listening experience you got for the product...Not the popularity of it....The monitary success of art has zero impact on you personally as a fan or a consumer...

You're stating the obvious, but there are plenty of threads here where we discuss things other than our personal feelings towards music.

This thread is about how some artist are looked at unfavorable by hiphop heads because their albums don't stack up to the greats

The point I'm making is an artist that has hit records will have a better career and opportunities than an artist that drops albums that resonate with hiphop .

I think K.dot is about to drop an amazing album but, I bet most rappers would rather have Futures run than Lamar

Now who is stating the obvious?

:snoop:

My point is that you're a fan.. Not a label executive or in artist management..Why do you care?

I was coming in here to say :comeon:

But, I can't be the only who seen those random commericial playing Sir Mix Alot and Vanilla Ice's claim to fame.

However, a CLASSIC is everlasting and praised decades after decades.
