I don't think Ye or Def Jam care either way. They're gearing up for a tour that could potentially gross over 20 million in sales. Def Jam/Ye is gonna eat regardless

What's really impressive, is Cole not being too far behind. This cat is boring on many a track, but he's doin' this shyt the right way. Just puttin' music out and stayin' true to who he is as an artist. Much respect to that dude, because he could easily be on some other shyt if he really wanted to. This cat is about his music!

Why are people acting like Kanye had no promotion? He's Kanye West... He's on TMZ at least once a week & dating Kim Kardashian has boosted his visibility 10 fold...

Every other week he's in the news for a rant or running into a parked car or some shyt & it's always followed by "... whose new album is dropping soon..." :heh:

Cats are really falling for this "No promotion..." shyt like just ANYBODY has enough money or leverage to play their video on 66 buildings in the world at the same time... :heh:

And the Fake "Indie" Major Artist Marketing has been working wonders these last 5 years & dudes are still falling for it, lol... Thnx Drake...:heh:

Mac is sign to the same people as wiz, but they have a pressing deal with sony not really indie and he might make rostrum (his label) a larger profit for his home label then wiz, but he's not some sage business mind making all the money

Same thing with Macklemore, except ryan lewis (the producer) the one with all the business acumen

Cole fan base is mainly young black women, who don't like the negative ratchet, strip club music, that's been ringing off for the last few years


:lupe: went gold twice off the same fan base, he just. Lost the will to make radio friendly singles and atlantic did everything they could to stall his career.

If you go to either shows its mainly black women :manny:

The ironic thing is cole songs he's always saying he won't save a hoe or he doesn't fall in love :yeshrug:

When you have someone like Kanye West on the label. You just let him do whatever he wants.


He puts numbers on the board. How much work have they put into the album? And it's still broadly a success. He turned up, told em what it do - sells 350k with a month's notice.

The label bank's what they can, invest in the young dudes.

How many rappers have ever put these numbers up on their 6th solo? 8th album on the label?

This is probably the height of Cole's career man. I really don't get the hype around these sales. He's one of the biggest artists of this generation, the girls love his music, he's respected as an MC. So he's pushing units.

I don't think he's on track to be a legend and that's his ambition.
