gotta admit, before this thread i didnt know it was hard to get a credit card. now i do
doesnt explain why 190 million people in america have them, but let's not worry about facts here. those are inconvenient

because that WAS NOT the controversy. The issue is you implying the process for obtaining a debit and credit card is the same and if you qualify for a debit card then you can get a credit card. You were wrong about that and yet have refused in every reply to acknowledge it 
Your assumption wasn't the problem, you making it seem like the two processes are similar or even related, is what we're trying to school you on.

you have to ask different ages and income brackets these questions. since i am an old millennial, i was a youngster before 2008, so i got a shytty little capital one card for simply having a pulse. i was in abject poverty with about $10k in student loan debt in deferment status from a shyt technical school and still got credit. a breh in his early 20s today with that kind of lifestyle probably wont qualify anymore or will have terrible terms.
i dont really know the debit card struggle from any personal experience. i got grandfathered into my debit card by way of my mom getting me a savings account at her credit union when i was a child. as i grew up, they just quietly added checking to the savings and voila, i had a debit card and credit union membership i didnt even ask for as a grown man. my big sister, on the otherhand, did not get that and had a terrible experience with BofA. i assume if you are broke and have to bounce checks and whatnot, you are going to get red flagged for a few years. this has to be why there are people unlucky enough to be signing up for rush cards.

Im confused here like many others apparently. You get a debit card automatically with any checking account. If you need to build credit start with a secured card and don’t miss any payments.
It’ll take you around two years and then you can apply for an entry level unsecured credit card, like those issued by Credit One bank ($500 to $1,500 limit). Again, don’t miss any payments, they will gradually increase your credit limit annually, and probably give you two cards to increase your credit limit availability.
Your credit rating will be at its best as long as you keep your credit balance under the 25% to 30% range of your available credit. So if you’re above that, pay it down before you try to apply for something.
Then you can get a base level credit card (around 15k limit). It took me about 4 years to get my credit from a 565 to a 750. There may be faster ways to do it, but that worked for me.
On time payments, established credit history, and low balances are what you need.

Now if we actually want to turn this into a serious thread, we should consider how easy it seemingly is to get a credit card with a high limit in the US.
In Europe, and even in the caribbean, you would get a debit card linked to your savings or chequing account before even being considered for a credit card.
But credit cards in those places are usually tied to banks and not companies like capital one.
