You obviously have listened to no Hodgy Beats material after "Radical" era. In Untitled and Untitled 2 his material is drastically different.He has nice structure but he rhymes about trash. EDIT : He's not finished he's just not releasing as much and maybe the reason he's not releasing as much music is because he has a son now. That takes a toll in terms of time consumption.

Numbers was embarrassing and his little solo ep or whatever was also wack. He wasnt able to transition into a respectable artist because he was to attached to demonic gimmicks. It was a nice technique but the lack of bass in the track hurt the instrumental overall because the sample wasnt that great to begin with. Sounds like an unfinished Drake song. Sounds like a looped break in a beat.

I just mean the fact theres is only snare kick and low filter to the beat with a sample that does not sound epic enough to warrant such a lazy approach to beat making. If this beat had a bassline it would have been enhanced tomake up for the fact that the sample is not that great, friend.
Who says he didn't play a bass, I mean it doesn't sound like he did but. Until we see the actual stems we'll never know.
And I wouldn't say it's a lazy approach. Sometimes you don't have to do much to make a good beat. Sometimes less is more.

Stay focused friend. We're talking about this beat, not comparing it to others. Theres a lot going on in still dre to even think of comparing these 2 beats. There are Way more tracks in still dre compared to this beat. Still dre is not as simplistic as you think it is. It was very professionally mixed with different aspects.
The sample for THIS song is not powerful enough to not have a strong bassline. This is like like the bottom of good samples. Its just enough. Thankfully the song is short which helps strengthen it. Its not a song you could listen to for 4 minutes. He knew that which is why the song is short.
