Stay focused friend. We're talking about this beat, not comparing it to others. Theres a lot going on in still dre to even think of comparing these 2 beats. There are Way more tracks in still dre compared to this beat. Still dre is not as simplistic as you think it is. It was very professionally mixed with different aspects.

The sample for THIS song is not powerful enough to not have a strong bassline. This is like like the bottom of good samples. Its just enough. Thankfully the song is short which helps strengthen it. Its not a song you could listen to for 4 minutes. He knew that which is why the song is short.

While I'm pretty sure THEY ARE more tracks in Still Dre. It doesn't mean it's not a minimal beat (to me at least). Having alot of tracks and layers doesn't make a beat complex.

Complex Schmomplex. Im talking about what is needed to make a beat sound good. If still dre was just the first noise you hear and the drums, it wouldnt be as effective but there are layers to the song that keep it fresh throughout. For a sample as average as the one you highlighted, more needs to be added to the beat to make the song overall a great piece of work. Thats just the case with This song because the sample is just

Im not sure why you wouldnt want to carry it on. What sounds great to my ears and releases chemicals in my mind may be at a different standard then yours. Clearly, friend because you like this beat which is very average and not releasing chemicals in my mind, to me. I cant tell you what makes a great sample because its a feeling, not a definition, FRIEND!

You just answered your own question. Its subjective and to my standard its not good enough. You think this beat is hot. I think its forgettable. But, it could have been memorable if it had a bassline, but it didnt so
