the king requested the services of the piper.

Piper, with his magical flute, agreed to help on the condition that the king would pay him.

King agreed.

Piper walked through the square playing a tune on his flute.

the rats followed piper to a lake and drowned.

Piper goes back to the king to collect his cash

the greedy king said "nah"

Piper was enraged...dude left...came back in the dead of night with a new song.

all the children within earshot of the pipers magical tune (including the kings only son and daughter) left their homes and followed the piper.

The piper lead the children to the same lake where the rats met their fate and drowned the children
