How long did it take you to get to the peak? That first ice river part had me ready to throw the controller lol
The actual climb not that long honestly. The Sands of Karak was harder to me, I mastered the needle hook thing off of that.

And I guess running through the citadel too. There were definitely a couple parts in there that if I didn't have the extra silk then I wouldn't make it without the double jump.

A quick tip that helped me get through the game, poison tacks. Tacks are a crazy tool cuz they hit so many times and stay pretty long. Add poison to them and you can keep reapplying it to the boss or groups of enemies. It's obviously not that great against flying enemies but it's good for everything else.

I'll probably finish the first game this week (had a real cool time with it). Hopped into this thread to see reaction and I've been kinda shocked at how much complaining there is.

So this is basically a way more frustrating version of the first game? :patrice:

Might wait a while on it if that's the case. Was gonna get GOT next anyways :pachaha:

so for a breh who just works a long day and just want a pick me up game no stress etc. this ain't it right?
I've heard this game was meant to be dlc for the first game and it feels like it difficulty wise.

I've seen people say you can jump into this game without playing the first game, but from the start the challenge is comparable to the end game of the first one, and it only gets harder from there. It's kinda feels like the developers designed the game around the assumption that you've beaten the first game.

It's like that elden ring dlc but expanded to the length of a standalone game.

Finally got the double jump. Some of ya'll seemed to have overstated the difficulty in getting to it.
There's alot that people are overstating the difficulty of, like the moorwing and sister splinter bosses.

I've actually seen people online try to argue that the hunter's march was harder than path of pain. To me it felt easier than the first section of the white palace area before path of pain.

I wouldn't hang my hat on the difficulty of this game since 9 times out of 10, you don't get a godamn thing for overcoming a challenge :dead:

shyt's not even hard, it's just annoying. 95% of enemies are flight-based because they know you have limited mobility and options in the air. Most bosses have to fly and have minions distracting you because they have 3 attacks at the absolute max.

Honeymoon period is over and people are slowly but surely getting off this game's dikk. :pachaha:

Ehh. It's not as bad as people are making it. I actually think the boss fights have been easier than the first so far. The ONLY thing I agree with is that they make you track back after boss fights. I think they should have listened to the fans and made checkpoints right before boss arenas similar to the souls games.

But people crying cause they keep dying during exploration are some ho's. THAT'S the game. It forces you to get better no matter what. The enemies in this game are not hard. You can cheese your way through areas even. If you get down to your last mask. Just go out of a room come back and all the smaller weaker enemies will respawn and you can rack up easy silk til your fully loaded again. Even on the bigger enemies that require more hits. Say they require 5 hits to kill. You can hit them 3-4 times. Leave the room and come back and the hit meter will start over. So you can just keep hitting them 3 times and leave and come back and rack up silk. If you're dying that much during exploration then you suck ass. Flat out. Just tells me you're an inpatient player who tries to button mash enemies.

This game is not so hard that you should even be dying that much. Boss fights are the only exception. I made it through half the game with my original 5 masks and silk. Not by choice. That shyt just totally slipped my mind. And the game has still been pretty damn easy. I'm loving the game so far. Think the level design has been much better than the first. But some people were always gonna be caught up in nostalgia. All I wanted was hollow knight with a twist. And I got that.

Exactly, game isn’t “hard” per se, it just had a ton of annoying little design quirks that make a lot of sections more tedious than fulfilling.

Id say stuff like elden ring or lies of p was harder but didn’t feel as frustrating.

This game just needed more play testing. People don’t realize how much HK changed since release

Like it’s been said, it’s stilll a good game but it has rough edges that the original fixed through updates

The only annoyance that any of ya'll said that I feel has any real weight of merit to it is how the currency of the tools work. That gets that much more annoying that when fighting bosses, the minions don't drop any currency at all, not even that and that you can't refill your tools outside of on benches and only when you have that shards to do so. That and that they take quite a bit, if you die constantly during boss fights or gauntlets, you will be short of them really quickly.

All the other complaints, like level design/platforming segments, teleports, enemy design, benches-to-rosarie costs, etc., sounds more git gud status than being that egregious to me.

The only “annoying” thing for me is the amount of hits it takes to kill stuff.

some of these grunts should be 1-2 hits, the larger enemies 4-6
Even that gets mitigated with upgrading your needle and or doing like the charge attack. But yeah, enemies can be spongy. Sometimes it's actually a good thing when you need them for additional platforming, so they don't do the first couple of times you bounce on them and you miss your opportunity to use them to go higher.

Honestly the only real complaint I've experienced is that bosses tend to fill the screen with enough bullshyt that you cant even tell what's happening, basically turns most boss fights into an endurance test.

Wouldn't be a problem if the bosses didn't have so much health, even when u got the pattern down some fights just drag on.
