I’m good at this game and im progressing just as quickly as everyone else in this thread, I’m deep in act 2.

Those things are still annoying and the epitome of bad game design in 2025
Those things are inline with what's expected of the series. You can make the argument that some of the bosses are badly designed, causing a quick and easy runback to get frustrating after your 40th attempt at the boss, but the runback is never the issue.

"Bad game design"

With these opinions, why not start the player at the beginning of whatever room they died in? fukk a bench, checkpoints and autosaves every time you enter a new screen. Why not? Anything else would be bad design and wasting the players time right?

Thats what it sounds like yall want.

Thats almost exactly what games like elden ring, lies of P, wukong, khazan, etc. do and they aren’t any easier for it. It just eliminates needless tedium

Sometimes you just want to learn boss patterns and jump right back into fighting it, not having to navigate spike pits and flying enemies shooting shyt at you before you even get to the arena. It’s just not that fun. It adds absolutely nothing of substance to the game

Games like elden ring have runbacks far longer than anything in this game.

The majority of bosses have sights of grace right outside the fog door

I honestly can’t think of many with long run backs outside of placidusax. I especially can’t think of many where you have to run through more than one enemy

Elden Ring and lies of P still have the run backs

And majority of boss fights in this game has benches 1 screen away.

There are plenty of bosses in elden ring that dont give you a site of grace of one of those statues before boss fights.

Last judge was probably the most tedious run back I’ve had so far but even that you can speedrun once you know the route. anytime I thought there was an egregiously long run back I either found a closer bench nearby or figured out how to speedrun the route avoiding damage

my only gripe with this game is the tools economy. The resources are so scarce that it kinda forces you to use tools only in case of emergency during exploration, or save until the last phase of a boss fight that you already 90% mastered with regular attacks alone. You almost have to treat them like super moves. If you try to use tools learning a boss, you'll run out in like 4-5 attempts tops. Even when I only use them when Im super close to beating something, you burn thru them soooo fast

That said, the bug juice that buffs speed/attack mixed with the poison charm is like going super sayian plus it's easily replenishable when you run out. I was sleep on that shyt at first but its a top tier tool lowkey

Main story bosses had mostly nearby runbacks but a lot of the optional bosses and general areas had some pretty gnarly ones.

Off the top of my head:
Erdtree Avatar on the far right side in the Haligtree
Crucible Knight in Farum Azula (absolutely ridiculous just to get your shyt pushed back off two bad reads)
Placcidusax in Farum Azula
Rennala in Raya Lucaria had the long ass road with the falling ball
Any of those dungeons with the giant chariot puzzles is probably the worst of them all

only egregious ones I can recall are Rennala and pliccidusax

thought maybe I just never noticed because ER respects your time far more than this game.

It’s a game that literally lets you warp from one boss fight across the map to another lol

This game makes you pay for fast travel
