Time to turn the page on Wise but this article from 2019 just was posted on my TL and it's wild how this freelance writer pointed out all of these deficiencies that are still clear as day now and this FO glossed over all of this and still picked him #2.
Every weakness dude mentioned is still present, especially him constantly trying to block everything.

You mean the same deficiencies that I tried pointing out before the draft and nobody wanted to listen?

Stfu moron we are undersized full stop… When we had Zaza, Mcgee, Boguts, Festus we were never getting out rebounded and all were competent bigs… Weisman isn’t competent
You’re making my point. You should be more worried about the player competency not being only “6’8”

And it’s not Weisman :francis: unless this an inside joke?

I still stand that Wiseman was the correct pick at the time.

We desperately needed a big (and still do lol) and the guy was right there.

It just didn't pan out
. :manny:

Not getting a big for depth this deadline was a bad move though.
My g, it didn't pan out because he wasn't the right pick.

It's not as if he suffered some freak injury that cut his career short; he just wasn't the right big man for this team. The logic you're using is the same one the organization used when they fell into the trap of drafting him. They convinced themselves that he was the answer to the hole at the 5, rather than looking at him purely as a prospect and his fit on this team (neither of which were worthy of a #2 pick).

It's the same reason why they've held onto him for as long as they did, to the point where he had no value and they had to get rid of him as a salary dump.

I blame myself for speaking it into existence:
Jesus Christ. I hope the Warriors draft Wiseman just so some of y'all can fall on the sword of y'all own stupidity.

I definitely see your point, and I agree that they held on for too long before trading him.

But at the time, it was a logical decision. It's different than say, the Kings drafting 2 or 3 PGs in the same draft or something nonsensical like that.

They took a calculated risk and it didn't work. I can't be mad at that, y'know?

This year got screwed up by the team not being as good as they thought. By having the slow start and just being mediocre it means they shrunk the margin of error which meant they lost the opportunity to worry about developing the young guys. That means the young guys lose court time and a chance to grow within the system. It's hard to grow as a young player without that court time.
