You losers letting white people's views on our music have so much power over you are fukking pathetic.

Black music is just fine. Of course the black music cacs try to force down our throats through the mainstream will be diluted in quality. The fukk you expect? For them to care about the substance and quality of OUR music? That's OUR job you fukking fools. They're job is to make money off exploiting the shallowest, emptiest, simplest forms of our music to make money and to reinforce the false agenda that we aren't shyt but c00ns and sideshow monkeys.

Just because the artist who are deep in the mainstream like Rihanna, Trey Songz and Beyonce might suck doesn't mean there aren't a plethora of lesser known EXCELLENT black artists.

Check out Robert Glasper, Rochelle Jordan, Vikter Duplaix, Lianne La Havas, etc, etc, et-fukking-c

The Booth fukking sucks. I'm out.

I've seen you around and we agree on a lot, but he's right in part.

Not about Grammmy's (fukk that show :birdman:), but about expanding our horizons and vision.

How many nikkas be giving you the :scusthov: when you tell them you play an instrument, or cover music by people that laid the groundwork for popular music as a whole in our society (I.E. Chuck Berry, the man who invented Rock N Roll, Muddy Waters, Etta James, Duke Ellington and on down the line).

shyt even Bob Marley be having nikkas looking at you like :stopitslime:.

Very true. It's disconcerting how the monumental groundwork laid out by Miles Davis, Herbie Hancock and others is completely dismissed by the younger crowd...they don't even realize what a rich heritage they actually have (Chuck Berry, Charlie Parker, Jimi Hendrix, Bootsy, Robert Johnson :noah:).

But there's a decent amount of younger dudes who've emerged in the last couple years who eschew that close minded mentality. Peep the J Dilla/9th Wonder thread. Flying Lotus (he's been around though), Iman Omari, Muhsinah and Damu the Fudgemonk give me hope.

the irony that black music birthed modern music as a whole..where do you think rag time jazz came from? blues? rock & roll? soul? r&b? house music?hip hop? cacs just steal, pussify the art and sell it to the masses...

:russ: So all we got is one artist now?:shaq2:

Herbie Hancock still makes music too... In fact he won a Grammy for best album a few years ago... Lalah Hathaway still makes music... Marsha Ambrosius as well...

Its not my fault you degenerates only look to Hip Hop to define what is "black music"

There is tons of great black music out there... I'm not gonna hold your hand and help you find it... Your name is Jesse Jackson, You should be an expert on it :BABY:

Mainstream music has rarely been sophisticated but we can honestly say Black music sucks right now.

One of the most sophisticated songs in the 90's was "I'm a bytch". Mainstream is rarely sophisticated.

Mariah Carey early to mid 90's lyrics wasn't no Canibus but it's a million times better than any Frank Ocean cut.

:wtf: :what: Not really, Frank is a much better lyricist than Mariah. Not even saying that as if Frank is a lyrical monster either. Mariah (lyrically) sang generic love songs.

I wasn't saying her lyrics were deep, I was saying she was a million times better artist than Frank. Frank isn't even close to good R&B cats like Maxwell.

The thing about music trends is, and I hope that this continues to be the case, is that when you can't come up with innovative shyt today, you look to the past.

I hope these kids out here realize what it is they have to fall back on to help grow the music and don't make the same mistake I did and grow up hella ignorant.

Back then, to me, "black music" pretty much ended and began at hip-hop and gangsta rap (or whatever else was popular on the radio), because all my peers was giving me the :childplease: if I even listened to anything else.

Meanwhile, the white kids in school was bumping Marley, Hendrix, Robert Johnson and so on and listening to it like it's was theirs, and all nikkas would do would be like :manny: if it wasn't hip-hop.

Now I know part of it has to do with me being a kid and all, and kids don't know shyt, but how is this acceptable? Most ignorance comes from your formative years such as high school.

We all know who to blame in the end anyway though. :beli:

Good Black music is still being made.. You are just not getting it from corporations any longer.... Its back where it started off.. The underground...

The only people that are bothered by this is those that don't know their history...

Did y'all see the numbers most Hip Hop related threads do in the booth ?
Let alone Soul, Jazz or *gasp* Rock.
Fvck this thread and anyone who agrees with it. :pacspit:
