It's both. I don't know if you have BET in Asia, but flick the channel to 106 & Park on weekdays at 6 if you do. The show is dominated by a young black audience. Look at the songs being promoted. Same shyt cacs love. It's a dual agenda. Not mutually exclusive.

Last I spoke to the youths about BET they were on some "You from them Fubu days huh, don't nobody watch BET, we on that adult swim/cartoon network :hov:"

Most teens/youths watch and spend the majority of their time on youtube. :ld: youtube channels have substituted cable channels.

we left the church to win back control of our mind :dwillhuh:

i think it was worth it

i'm not a church goer...but using your logic, i'd say leaving the church hurt US blacks more, so no, it wasn't worth it. gen y & whatever comes after are less educated than our parents' generations, have less wealth, look at the violence amongst each other, the disrespect, the high unemployment, and a host of other ills...i'd say nikkas need to go back to church (not that leaving church was even the cause)

Our Music is in a bad place right now… We have no control over our creativity because all these c00ns cashed out and sold their record companies….Losing our roots and core audiences have been disastrous…

This is what happens when people start associating our music with ignorance. They don’t want to hear us do well written songs about love and social awareness etc… That’s where the term “ Boring music” comes from now…They want us to live up to the stereotypes they’ve made for us. So while we’re singing about the clubs, money, disrespecting and cheating on each other, they’re making music about good values, life, while being creative and plus have stolen our vocal range.

Years ago you wouldn’t have seen a white woman that would sing like Kelly Clarkston, Adele and many more. Maybe one or two but not in every genre from Rock to Country….Meanwhile our artist can’t sing live anymore because they push the image more than the music. Where were the artist like Maxwell, Dwele, Jill Scott, Ledisi, etc? I hear Robert Glasper won a Grammy but why wasn’t he put up front? A lot of black people don’t even know who he is, yet they’re tryna push Frank Ocean & Miguel’s corny looking azz on everyone and FO had to worst performance of the night out of all the genres… Just go pull & read the lyrics without the music to the white songs vs ours and you’ll see what I’m talking about… They have just as good vocalist as we have now if not more & better song writers… Niccas just want to be accepted by them instead of being themselves as we use too when we were creating timeless music.
