Scarface>>>>>>>Rakim
He had the best verse on Watcher 2.Lmaoooo.. no the fuhk he didnt
. He outshined no one you mentioned on a track.. nygga please
Nah breh.. I sit back and laugh at people who say that...
Eric B has Dj mixes on those albums. It's a mix between Rakim solo songs and Eric B dj mixes.
His solo albums have no Dj or mixes (as album cuts) and they can't compare to his work with Eric B.
Let the rhythm hit em is an absolute masterpiece of an album.Dre fukked that nikka life over
The most destruction I've seen by a label to an artist period
And with Lupe, Wayne, Thugger, amongst others, that's saying something
Imma be dead ass honest and say I don't fukk with either of the latter two Eric B/Rakim joints though. They were for the most parts just monotonous and boring with some pretty great lyricism on paper. Hell most people influenced by Rakim don't even mention those two joints. He basically got Follow The Leader/Paid In Full and 18th Letter and the supposed potential breaker that was Dre and Rakim together
The other thing: Ra's flow was too stiff to survive in the era of Pete Rock/Premier/RZA
No one has surpassed Ra.It isnt a big mystery. An all time great doesnt improve, times change, younger emcee's improve on his blueprint and surpass him.
Maybe some of you are too young to see but this happens ALL the time, whether it be sport, music, filmmaking whatever the fukk.
Scarface>>>>>>>Rakim
Explain further. Whitney as you would put it.![]()
I don't know man, Rakim just sounds so goldy to me over Primo and PR beats. I've never once thought that he sounded stiff or anything remotely related to that. For me, Rakim's delivery/flow whatever you want to call it, is one of his strongest elementssure. I think Rakim's delivery didn't evolve much from his "Microphone Fiend" days. He's used to rhyming over HARD beats. so his delivery is very stoic.
Compare how Rakim rhymed on Pete Rock beats vs how Nas rocked it. Nas is more fluid. less monotone. a little more emotive than Rakim. Even the way he says "mechanical movement!" on the World is Yours compared to his earlier lines on the same song.
Rakim was still doing that stoic monotone shyt by the time Truth Hurts came out.
What do you mean get used to the idea? That is what happens to the overwhelming majority of rappers.Maybe, though, as I've already acknowledged, I'll have to get used to the idea of rappers growing old and not being as good as they once were or as popular as days past
Im tired of this what have u done for me lately fan base. Ra changed the rap game. If it wasn't for him n1ggas would still be rappin like Busy Bee in the 80's. Nobody is checking for nobody until a handful of gullible dikk riders say it's official. Then you'll spotify half the album for a week then wait for the microwave to start spinning again. Rinse and Repeat / Thread.
I feel u breh. I didnt say Rakim did it by himself though. But he did contribute to the switch up in dudes flows. Just like Kane, G Rap KRS, Slick Rick, Kool Moe Dee, LL Etc. U know where im going lol.na...caz, melle and kool moe d get credit for that bu Ra took it to the next level
