IMO they should just say fukk it and go hard in the paint for a public option late this year or early next. Obviously it would never pass but something like that should at least mobilize their base to show up for midterms.

However, in the mean time, given how complicated this issue is, they should be working on something substantive instead of empty promises right now. Spend a year crafting something real and tangible instead of trying to appear to be "Doing something".
