I think there ready to throw out the towel and do whatever they can to prevent trump from winning.

If trump gets nominated that's a L

If trumps loses the nomination and goes independant that splits the republican vote and whoever they nominate has no chance

There ready to give up 2016 to right the ship and come back hard in 2020.

No matter what if trump becomes president he's screws up that party so much there's no return from that

I was with you more or less, until the bolded. When the dust settles, the party might just ask everyone to rally behind Trump. Trump would, of course be asked/pressured bring his views more in line with the GOPs. If only slightly.

I don't concede that Hillary wins anything. She's not proven herself able to beat any real competition.

Would trump cooperate though? Isn't it late to change his views?

He's a deal maker.
:lolbron:

Edit: Remember- As much as the party cant win if they alienate his supporters, he can't win if he alienates them.

Edit: This is assuming he really wants to win.:jbhmm:

i can't see that last scenario happening just b/c of all the money he's spent. spend millions to voluntarily step aside for a candidate who can't draw a quarter of his crowds - where does he win in that deal? i think they will try to force him to pick an establishment VP with some clout to bring some respectability to the ticket. a woman or ex-military.

I think there remains a real chance that trump never thought he would get this far and he doesn't actually want to be president.

lol i've thought this for awhile. i still don't think he wants to be president. but i do think he wants to be the last one standing vs hillary and he'll sabotage himself if necessary. his ego must be off the chart right now.

He might stick around to win it, then resign after inauguration, letting the VP take over. That was Howard Stern's plan when he ran for Gov, he wanted to enact overnight construction laws, then bounce.
