So ive gone to Slovenia on two separate occasions for about 5 months total because one of my buddies from college lives there. I quickly grew to love the country. Its very calm and peaceful, but there are a lot of activities to do at night no matter where you are (clubs are nice as fukk). It is the least densely populated country in the EU, got away from Soviet rule in 1991 so the economy is in the early stages of capitalism and many of the buildings are pretty new since they have been successful since then. It borders Italy, Austria, Croatia...has the Adriatic Sea, the Alps and lakes/hills/streams/forests everywhere. Plus, nearly everyone there speaks english and there are basketball courts all over the place (i was shocked to see so many parks with courts and houses with hoops). Took a while to get used to playing their ridiculous way of pickup games using that damn trapezoid though. Word up to Goran Dragic the gawd. (They HATE Sasha Vujacic)

Anyway, I recently got EU dual citizenship and am contemplating a move, so I was fukkin around looking at houses/apartments. The first few places are just fukkery luxury spots. They all have very different styles though. The last one is an apartment in downtown Ljubljana (the capital), and the last house is in a surrounding area (couldnt post pics but put up a link).

Housing is very affordable there, the food is ridiculously good and fresh (mixture of local/italian/austrian/yugoslavian foods) and almost all of it comes from local farmers and butcher shops. I came back here and was like this fukking tomato is water in tomato form compared to there. :gag:

That view and location :whew:

Those are all expensive and for sale...but they also have ridiculously good and affordable deals in Slovo for housing.

This one below comes fully furnished and is 795 euros a month (2 brs/ about $1060), 1 hr from italy/austria/croatia and is in the capital.

:smugfavre:

Doesn't surprise me..although many of the common-folk are incredibly religious and good people. My friend's mother would wake up at 4 AM to pray..then she would bike to work, go to church, go back to work, come home and cook and take it easy the rest of the day. Nicest person I ever met.

There is very little crime, but I was SHOCKED at the lack of police force. We were at a bar the first night and the people i was with rolled a foot long + spliff with this sizable rolling paper and just burned it in front of everyone there on the patio outside. I wasnt used to the freedom and was buggin :pachaha:The casinos are kinda sketchy though..and driving is just an adventure. Dudes were doin over a 100 in the rain, on a highway, and drifting by pulling the e-brake. I thought i was gonna die :merchant:

That's actually a very good reason to move to a country. The more police you see on the street the less freedom you have.

Yea man. If I move there at some point, I dont plan on being reckless and committing crimes and shyt..but it was refreshing to actually feel like you werent being watched for once. They do have a fairly efficient police force, but you wont see them out in speed traps and shyt and ive heard/seen that they are very reasonable even if you might be getting in trouble. My friend's brother got pulled over after drinking and smoking a shyt ton...but everyone else was even worse in the car and the cop was basically just like "alright..just chill here and sober up for a while then head home".

Man I really want to leave overseas but I'm scared :sadcam:

If you have the capability to live overseas..I suggest you go visit a country or two first..but not as a tourist. Try to live the life of the normal citizen there for at least 2-3 weeks. Going just for a vacation for a week or two might leave you disillusioned about every day life.

It's really great overseas in many spots. Even if/when I do move, I know Im going to miss living here though. You have to go into the move knowing that..not thinking youre just gonna forget about America and have no second doubts.

Theyre good but not great. They are all real cool though, very open minded..no BS. One of them heard me speak and came up to me saying ":shaq:Ive never met an American"

Edit to add: I got super drunk that night and puked somewhere in the mountains resulting in fail. worst hangover/jet lag combo ever
