Thanks. I have an appt in October in NYC to get my passport..after that Im good to go. I got citizenship about a month ago from Italy so I could go now but itd be dumb to go without the Italian passport. If youre interested you should def read up a bunch and visit first. It has a great central location in Europe too..you can get anywhere quick and flights within Europe from Ljubljana are very cheap. If you have any questions feel free to ask me.

How did you get Italian citizenship?

Yah, that's not all that typical. My aunt and cousin are from there/live there. Those are nice homes though.

True..those were some of the more unique places, wanted to highlight them because i found them to be pretty dope. I also noted and linked to the more affordable/common places though...There is a lot of similarity in a good amount of houses there..but there are still a lot of nice, unique and fairly new houses/apartments there..and housing in general there is a pretty good bargain from what ive seen and been told. Have you been? How do they like it?

Sorry :dwillhuh:

Just wanted to provide some info on a country never really covered on the forum (or many places in general) and thought that especially since Dragic blew up more people would recognize the name at least and be interested to check it out. :to:

I think its a great place a bit different from the rest of eastern europe fwiw. they border italy and austria and its as far west as eastern europe can get. theyre honestly central europe to me..parts of slovenia are further west than parts of austria and austria is considered western europe :yeshrug:

i talked a bit with @PullOutGawd about it..i told him to consider this thought experiment:

let's say slovenia is as bigoted or more-so than other european countries just for the sake of it. even so, its the least densely populated country in europe, is very quiet and its very easy to live a peaceful life and avoid conflict no matter who you are or where u come from.

now this isnt to say that things couldnt be better, or that it is as bigoted or moreso than other european countries..but id say it'd be a lot easier to live comfortably in peace there even in the worst of possible conditions compared to many other places in europe, specifically eastern europe. and like i said earlier in the thread..they are unique in that they are so new to freedom and liberty that i would think they would be much more liberal and open minded. i got the sense of that when i was there. slovenia as a country was never in existence until 1991. its one of the "newest" countries in the world.

last edit to add: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Global_Peace_Index ...theyve been in the top 15 since 2008 in most peaceful countries list.

also, check this article: http://www.enargywebzine.eu/spip.php?article93

Its a pretty good interview and he gives a fair idea of it. This guy is the mayor of Piran.

Peter Bossman: Since I’ve been elected and even before I got involved in politics, I haven’t experienced outright racism although some people give me problems sometimes. When I came to Europe, I knew that I would face certain difficulties because everywhere you go there are some people who aren’t prepared to accept people that are different. That prepared me for any difficulties that I might face. After I was elected, a very well-know Slovene author said “I don’t have anything against Bossman because he’s black, but it’s not right that someone who wasn’t born in Slovenia should be elected as mayor”. And I have to say that a lot of people came to my defence and wrote articles in newspapers. That’s something I must commend.
