That's exactly the problem, there's too much urban sprawl and no real concentrated downtown. Why do you need to live in a detached home when you could build nice condos for people to add density and the build a good transit around those. This way not everyone would need to drive downtown. Then the suburbs that are much further away, should have their own 'downtown' with local amenities. They should be constructed like normal cities and not like a regular neighborhood with nothing but houses. Trust me breh the city is terribly planned.

I wasn't talking about homeless or crackheads being jobless I was talking about able bodied normal looking black men I chopped it up with telling me they don't have a job and can't afford a car. That's crazy talk for Texas where most people feel there's always an opportunity because they struggle to attract people in general. Like Texas would be the last place I would expect someone to struggle finding a job.
I agree with pretty much all of that but the problem is too many people came down here too fast. The city isn't designed for damn near 4 million people. The freeways have already been built. All they can do now is add extra lanes (IE I-10, 59/69, 288. I wont even mention I-45 which is quite possibly hell on earth) which takes years to be done and makes the traffic even more of a nightmare. They're building condos and shyt right now everywhere from 3rd Ward, Southpark, to all up and down 290, and 610 trying to accommodate the influx of people. They're even trying to build shopping hubs (IE Pearland Town center, Sugarland Town Center) but everyone wants to go to the Galleria area, Downtown and Midtown. There are spots to go and the city is spread out enough to do different shyt but if you live in Webster or Pasadena, for me you might as well be in Lafayette b/c the traffic alone gonna take 2 hours. Let's not even talk about the northside. Might as well be another city. The only saving grace was the Beltway but now that's even fukked up.
Oh and them other jobless clowns you mentioned are just lazy and living off their girl, driving her Altima swangin in the streets destroying her CV joints and leaving her shyt on flat. Lot of hobosexuals running the streets of Houston 😅. I stay in my spot look out the backyard and be good.
Like I said it's a bunch of spots to be at in the city and surrounding areas, it's just everyone watches hops on social media and wants to go to the same 5-7 spots in a city this big. With all that being said aint no way I agree with this article. Aint no way Houston has the highest poverty rate in the US compared to The Bay area or other major cities.

Houston took off in 2005 when Houston rap took over the scene and u had people/ broke people at that run down there with no plan

Then a year later New Orleans katrina came and people ran next door to Houston and never returned

And like I mentioned earlier in my post the white population is running away with the resources and now u have a lot of empty pockets loss..

It was a matter of time for not only houston but these other big cities to feel the pain

These people are moving 20 minutes out the city and having they own and better strip malls , better police protection, restaurants, better housing and plus a lot more people are working from home , so why venture into the city unless its a sporting event or concert

I didn’t say Philly didn’t have ghettos. Still has less poverty per capita. The nikkas working at Wawa in Philly earn more than people working in doctors offices in Houston.
You mean the girls that sit at the front desk and check you in:heh:

Come on man. People all over the country move to Houston exactly to start over and get that little slice of the American dream big house backyard and all that.

Ain't nobody moving to Philly:francis:

im in NYC. moving to to Philly is a highly common. can get luxury living in Philly for half the price and Amtrak to NYC. and yes, if I moved to Houston with my NYC remote job I can afford a McMansion. Houston is great for that. Houston is not good for paying nikkas.

Depends on what they doing at Wawa (associate, manager, or general manager) but the cost of living in Philly is crazy compared to down here. Hell you can make 200-225K working at Bucees down here as a GM.

Houston isn't cheap like it used to be. But the wages for unskilled people are the same as they were like 15 years ago. I think the average apartment is $1700/mo for a 1 bedroom. A person working minimum wage cant even afford that without working double shifts every day for the whole month.

You’re pretty much describing all major southern areas. If your from the south it’s known from birth that you need a vehicle to get everywhere. Transportation could be better but it’s not as bad as you’re making it.
