If we gonna keep it a buck the Geto Boys were the first act from the South that got big and earned respect. UGK (tho not quite from Houston) didn't get as big as the Geto Boys were just as influential. Everything else we heard from the South at the time was that bass music

ATL been hot since the early 90's breh. Kriss Kross and TLC set the game on fire in 1992, outkast came in like 93 or 94. ATL been had the south crown.

His peak was 04 with U Gotta Feel Me, but he was on the radar with Underground Legend and The Leprechaun in 02 and 00. Flip was the reason companies started looking at Houston during that time, but a lot of people cut him short. UGK and Geto Boys date way back to the late 80s, but if it wasn't for Flip, those big deals would have never came for Mike Jones, Paul Wall, and Chamillionaire.
