I guess Jorge Soler would be the big prize because Miami is almost definitely trading him to someone.

amazing trade for the Sox. a switch hitting Catcher who is the 65th ranked prospect and a lefty SP who is the Angels #3 prospect for two guys we were gonna let walk in FA

Sox haven’t had a C prospect worth a shyt since Miguel Olivio lmao

loved Gio, he’s a good dude, hope he does well, happy he turned things around this season. He’s an LA kid so this must make him happy

I wouldn't be against this. But the Angels don't really have anything to send back in return.

Maybe if Cashman can get some young pitcher like Mason Albright (lefty in A-Ball) or Caden Dana (righty in A-Ball).

You'd think the White Sox would have asked for a young pitcher but instead they got a catcher. But it makes sense. Grandal is a shell of himself and there's nobody else on the roster at catcher. Zavala aint the answer.
Im excited about a legit C prospect - Quero instantly becomes our 2nd best prospect which is a great for two guys that are FA

and getting a 6'6" lefty that has good control - love the move

Gio is a solid pitcher though - LAA hopefully can sign him back on a reasonable deal but Im sure there will be competition - being in LA will be a huge advantage for them however, Gio is pumped to go home

He always carried himself well, through good years and some down years. He loved being a White Sox, he just seems like a easy guy to root for

You know what's wild to me is that in 2019, George Springer OPSed .974 and Alex Bregman OPSed 1.015.
That's elite.

This season, Springer is OPSing .729 and Bregman is OPSing .766.

Granted, things change in 4 years. But it's not like these guys are old as dirt. Springer is is 33 and Bregman is 29.

They've still shown flashes of being solid but I guess you take away sign stealing or PEDs or whatever the hell they were doing...and they're looking pretty damn basic.
It’s barely after the all star break :heh:

And he helped us with a key double to win our last WS, the other he was playing on a broken wrist that he had surgery on the day after the WS.

He started off very slow this season but he’s been on fire the last 2 months.

Let’s table this discussion for late September friend :pachaha:

Nice to see them go for it. It's not the smart move, but this is best way to try and get ohtani to stay. A miracle playoff run has to help

The Angels are 4gb w/ 2 months left, and they have 2 of the best players of the past 20 years. This is a great move. Sure you'll probably lose Ohtani this winter, but they have enough to get in the playoffs, and once the playoffs starts anything can happen.

Revenue from having ticket sales/merch for meaningful games in September/potentially October>>>getting a prospect that may become an All Star 2-4 years from now
