the only real option is to split the black vote and stay as neutral as possible

basically i think economics comes first and then politics,

any political or social changes black people want is proportional to economic power, South Africa (and obama for that matter) is a good example of how black people can have full political power and still have very little actual power and still be at the bottom

the problem with what you are saying is that you are using the premise that political power will result in economic power and will result in changes, it doesnt, thats why it doesnt really matter that hillary lost, all hillary would have done is put lipstick on black issues

this is not what Claude Anderson is saying

Splitting votes isn't even viable. You're talking on the coli right now. Not in some position of real authority

When 90% of people are voting for a party, this talk about magically splitting votes means theres something the GOP could do overnight to win us back.

Not even on the table.

I do agree that a lot of black pundits (ie tariq nasheed) lacked foresight and are looking funny in the light bytching about trump and his proposed state sanctioned white supremacist policies,
But you can put the blame on black people, esp when Hilary got 90 percent of the black vote.

the onus is really on white women and Hispanics.

the dems definitely need that 6 percent, since a majority of whites vote republican
BINGO

its a game of inches....

it is correct that claude anderson was not saying split the vote (although i dont think he would disagree) but what he is saying is that we need a new approach to politics

a lot of people take it as a given that our goal is to vote for the least outwardly racist political party, anderson is saying is that is wrong we should focus on how to control the political parties through economics

what anderson saying is quite revolutionary in black politics and using it as a guide it would make it obvious why the arguments used in the article you posted are not appropriate

as far as the practicality of my suggestion, its already happening, its just happening slowly

thats why i always predicted that hillary was going to lose, i knew black people were not going to turn out for hillary, in the future the split will increase

Poor analogy.

Considering you know...Bernie actually voted for the bill. Hillary was a First Lady at the time
Did I mention Bernie? Don't act dumb like Hilary wasn't on the forefront running her dikk suckers about the bill.

no one mentioned cornel west. read the article. it speaks directly to the Coli.

It used his picture, juxtaposed in between images of Hillary and Trump. That is pretty clear messaging. My point is more general - specifically that the idea that various black progressive leaders/activists have huge sway in the black voting community. We follow this shyt religiously and think everyone else does as well. Getting young people (black or white) to vote has historically been a challenge. They are also more likely to make their decision to vote (or not vote) with their hearts rather than their heads.

Both the DNC and the Sanders/progressive/Dem Socialist (or whatever you want to call it) wing are making huge mistakes personalizing their differences. Focusing attacks solely on the people perceived as the leaders of each group only ensures that their supporters never truly reconcile.
