How many times I gotta answer this question?

If you weren’t at least 13 years old in 2002, don’t talk to me about Ashanti and Beyoncé please.
I was 12 and you’re a damn lie. Look at the numbers and shut the fukk up. You obviously got a little too overzealous with nostalgia and said something that you now know is wrong. Instead of admitting to your mistake like a man, you’re putting fingers in your ears and going “la-la-la” like a child - it’s sad. Humble yourself.

Breh, you’re the one ignoring reality. Men lie, women lie, numbers don’t - Ashanti was never even close to Beyoncé. Ashanti in her prime was a Ja Rule background singer, nikka - stop it.

:mjlol::mjlol::mjlol:

A Ja Rule back up singer whose debut single spent 10 weeks at #1 on the pop charts, won the first Grammy for Contemporary R&B album, and had her album go gold in its first week out and broke the sales record for a female debut album???

Nah. We can’t be talking about the same Ashanti, b.

They (A&B) were on the same label. Ameriie album came out FIRST....THEN they did the 1st Bey album w/ way bigger budget. Notice that DIL has multiple producers, guest appearances, etc.

Ameriie 1st album had ONE producer for the whole project and NO guest appearances. And she was a brand new artist.

Despite the relative success of All I Have, Columbia benched her while releasing TWO Beyoncé albums. Smh.

The deck was really stacked against her.

Every Ameriie supporter talks about her first 2 albums, but nobody in this thread even mentioned the Drive EP that dropped two summers ago or her In Love & War Album from 2009. It's like even people that liked her don't realize these albums exist, and they had bangers. She even worked with Rich Harrison again

Beyoncé was already a star tho. Of course she had a bigger budget becuz she was less of a gamble

I give up.

You need to give up cause you not even making sense, Beyoncé has 3 #1's and 8 top 10 hits on her first two albums and only one of those 8 songs were produced by Harrison. You need to change you're argument cause this one ain't working for you. Irreplaceable was the biggest song out of all of them, are you going to tell me that was amerie sound.

She released those independently, if you don’t have the machine behind you, you won’t sell - this applies to everyone.

Even Ashanti’s indie projects have all gone triple pocket lint.

But you’ve highlighted the point of this video - she was driven out of the industry by her peers. Like they pointed out, she was on every hip hop track and all over the radio. She was the hottest thing for a few years there
