id say theyre on the same level, and if anything wale is more visable, has more exposure because of ross & his features...and overall he's a more polarizing and interesting figure because he has an opinon on everything. all i know about cole is his schooling, fayettville and choice of hoes. that style shyt is not everyone's thing, but its gotten wale into that jr. zeitgeist territory and he's flipping it into nike & fashion deals. he's developing a brand and cole is just developing as an artist.

nothing wrong with either, btw.

I think it's probably because Cole made a more favorable first impression than Wale. Don't get me wrong, Wale was dope back in the day, but he's really matured into an upper echelon rapper and demonstrated considerable growth musically and personally since he was a young nikka spitting over Go Go beats. Cole was a nikka spitting hot shyt out the gate. He's had a terrific flow since day 1, he got co-signed by a lot of prominent nikkas from basically the jump etc. He's kinda stagnated a little lyrically since the early days, but he was already at an elevated level anyway, so he's still nice. Either way, I think Wale's on the come (nh). Let's see what his numbers look like this week, but even if they're behind Cole (and they undoubtedly will be, a high number for Wale will be a little over 200,000; I can't imagine a scenario in which he's fukking with 300 stacks), critically I think he's right there with Cole and maybe outpacing him if the early reviews are indicative of what's to come, so I don't think he'll be too upset about the way shyt is breaking.

Both of them are dope as shyt though, and both deserve the success coming to them.

yea wale also does make better music/spit better, and all the above is true too

I think its because the whole internet calling cole the savior thing transfered to the more casual fans, who still listen to the radio and dont hear the other shyt going on in hip hop

and his brand of hip hop is more accessible for women, i have noticed cole has a lot of women fans

nas was called the saviour and big made the more accessible songs to women and initially sold more than him before iww dropped. being a saviour of rap dont necc. sell, making songs that connect w/ women and have the ability to crossover do.

wale does that poetry shyt brawds like. his last album when he went on that college tour, i remember watching a few vlogs and im like "these chicks really buy into him." cole's connection is getting there, but wale got the edge on that.

both of them covered their grass roots followings though. i fux with it. they did the school tours as well as 23-25+ clubs and all that. building that base, setting yourself up for the casual fan to catch on.

its called ARTIST DEVELOPMENT

Catch me i the hood, posted at the sto, tool on my
I think Wale is a bigger star, I could prolly say Cole is more respected lyrically, because they dont make the same music, yeah subject matter is similar but most "hip hop heads' might get lost on the Wale trail when he does songs like Chillen, or Chain Music...

And with Wale you either dont like his personality or deal with it for the sake of the music...Whereas Cole doesnt really have a personality...:yeshrug:

Both dope though, both just mighta dropped young classics(paper work still processing) and building they own road...bout the same level in my book though...
