aint just black music, either. streetwear fashion, an industry now dominated by white-owned brands, is a blatant appropriation of hip-hop clothing from the 90s, taking a style pioneered by black brands and black people.

i’m fast approaching a point of indifference to our condition. knowing how brief our time is, i don’t know if i can continue expending energy pounding my fists and screaming to the clouds when it seems as if the vast majority of our people simply don’t care.

anyway, not a huge fan of this dude, but it’s a good watch.

Its been inevitable. We were hyper aware of the cacs that had their hand on the throttle of our cultures music in the late 90s man. These days IDK if anyone cares anymore. It's just acceptance now. The sad thing is I remember old heads in my fam saying things were bad in the 90s compared to like the 70s and shyt.... So its probably been a long slow deterioration.

But here’s the thing. Nobody is fighting to keep it. Bruno Mars making legit good music out here and we would rather put out garbage

He's def got songs I like a lot but I wonder whether a black artist could get the push or label support needed to become a Bruno. It seems like there's a level of gatekeeping at play to ensure the white (or non-black, in Bruno's case) artist who does retro black music gets support and the black artist who does retro black music is regulated to club bars. Adele is extremely talented, I can't take anything from her, my mom LOVES her. But can anyone imagine a black woman artist being allowed to be graceful, reserved etc on a major label?

To be fair we all watched what happened to H.E.R. She got the push, heavy. Was in all the commercials, performed at all the awards shows, won major awards and nobody gives a fukk. Black people don't care, white people don't care. She has her niche fanbase, she has a moderate hit that gets her streaming but she's prob never going to blow up. Maybe we don't value that level of talent anymore, from black artists.

Sookiehellnah is considered black music today. Think about that. Black people definitely do not care.

I hate when motherfukkers wanna be like “why don’t you want to share culture, we’re grateful when people like our culture :troll: ” it’s like
1. I thought we didn’t have culture tho :troll:
2. Everyone else benefits from it but us
3.let others pimp your shyt out then

and talk like we’re being a$$holes about the cultural appropriation thing. What if American Crenshaw Mafian nikkas were the ones pimping out Viking shyt? Or anything latino related? Motherfukkers would not be on some “let’s share” shyt. The music industry was created to pimp out race records and jazz artists, literally every everything was made for predestinated obsolescence and then rock bands were created to save money. We tired of our shyt being pimped out. Imagine if white execs were pimping out anime and manga instead Japanese people being in charge of their shyt. We not concerned for no reason. Our culture has fed a lot of Anglos, Italians, Jews, etc etc.
