Yeah I never understood it myself. I'm not really a big fan of Jigga but you gotta admit. Dude is one of the top 5 most idolized and influential black rappers (or black people in general) alive. Dude resurrects, starts and kills trends at will.

That's why it's weird to hear nikkas trying to phase him out saying he too old for this and that. nikkas out here riding HIS waves, purchasing HIS clothes and music but trying to tell him he can't use the same swag yall stealing from him.

As for the hate, just shows the more pathetic side of the internet. Nas stans still holding on that grudge....it's been damn near a decade since that shyt was squashed. These internet nikkas hold stronger grudges than even the most bitter of baby mommas

Jay-Z's a fukking snake, how you gon screw over so many nikkas in your lifetime and still be able to look yourself in the mirror? :dahell:

he don't give a shyt about black people too

what have you done for the black community this year

:ld:I agree. My only problem with Jay Z is I feel like he sometimes substitutes artistry with good business sense. He was never an innovator, never changed the genre or came out of left field. So its uncool when fans these days try to place him in the upper echelon. cause hip hop is an art form isnt it?

No grudge

Dude is a c00n and hasn't dropped a classic in 12 years

I have no hate in my heart for dude, it is what it is.
Ok, now name me your 5 favourite rappers. Name any 5 legends and ask yourself, when was the last time they dropped classics.

When was the last Mobb Deep classic? (Murda Muzik in 99)
When was the last Nas classic? AND NO...DISTANT RELATIVES, LIFE IS GOOD, GOD's SON ETC ARE NOT CLASSICS. (Stillmatic...arguably)
When was the last Outkast classic? (Aqeumini in 98?...going by reviews Stankonia in 00)
When was the last Scarface classic? (The Fix in 02...I might say the Diary)
Are nikkas really supposed to drop classics every single album?
When was the last Eminem classic? (MMLP in 00)
When was the last classic from ANY Wu Tang release? (Supreme Clientele in 00)
Last Redman classic...Common classic...A Tribe Called Quest classic...Ice Cube Classic....The Roots classic.

How many Big Daddy Kane, Rakim, Kool G Rap, LL and KRS One records do you still bump normally?

etc etc etc etc etc
Kanye is the only nikka really dropping consistent bonafide gems like that at this point. So what's your point? They are classics for a reason. The rarity is the point!!!

I feel what you saying with this. To a certain degree...he did kinda benefit from having a lot of hotness around him.

But isn't that what were supposed to do? It's networking when you break it down.
If you are a business owner, let's say you work in IT Consulting or some shyt. If you have the network and the means to hold your own and work with big clients...fortune 500s like Disney or JP Morgan and handle their IT solutions the same way Jay-Z can hold his own flowing on a sick Timbo beat or featuring on a track with Biggie...are you gonna say nah lemme work with the mom and pop shops? Nah lemme work with the elementary school around the block?

Nah...you're not. You're gonna provide said service to the big clients. The big clients are gonna eat because your gave em that good work and you're gonna eat because you are making a name for yourself and the word is spreading. Jay-Z and these nikkas made hits together at the end of the day and both parties benefited. Why do you think Timbo came to Jay-Z on some changed man shyt for Magna Carta Holy Grail. You don't think he misses that?

The same shyt applies here. Jay-Z worked with Timbo, Swizz, Pharell, Erick Sermon etc. But it isn't like he didnt fukk with the odd K-Rob, Ski or DJ Clue beat? We gonna act like he didnt usher Kanye, Bink and Just Blaze? fukk all that Supreme Clientele shyt Jay-Z brought that shyt up.

nikkas work hard to reach that big client level thats the whole point of it. I came up drooling on Havoc, Alchemist, Dr. Dre, Timbaland and Neptune beats. If I was an aspiring rapper you don't think I'd wanna get a beat from them now?

And if you ask me, Jay-Z did change the genre. It mighta been him AND state property...but he was still a part of it. That time in itself was an "era"

Puff Daddy, Birdman, Jay-Z, 50 Cent

is it really ANY coincidence that any time folks make it to the top that there is some sort of conspiracy about how they're snakes or shiesty? There's a saying, I forgot how it goes, but basically it says that when you are going for the top you cant be a nice guy and have to be whats considered a snake to an extent. Only difference is that one gets hated on a lot more than the others. We all know why that is though :rudy:

If you are acknowledging that Jay Z has played the snake role, then why are you acting brand new on why people dont like him as a person? We understand that some people, such as yourself, are attracted to symbolic measures of success in the form of celebrity, material, and "boss moves", while caring little about things like substance, integrity, and so forth...welp, others arent like that. Fukk we just had a man die that spent close to 30 years in prison because of his beliefs, and for the many who revere such acts how can they turn around and pray at the alter of a person who rambles on about how much money he has and little else 24/7?

Its not just that hes not dropping classics. TBA was a great album even though IMO it wasn't a classic. Nowadays his music is BAD. Like Raekwon might not be dropping OB4CL level work, but he still makes shyt worth listening to. Every album he dropped since TBA has been in the bottom half of his catalog, with KC, BP3 and MCHG being damn near if not THE WORST albums he's dropped thus far. The shyt is unlistenable. Nobody talks about BP3 or KC outside of how bad they are. And this nikka used to be one of the best in the game. Its strange to me. U claim to be impartial but u seem eager to play Jay defense.

easy, because of HOW he came up.

dude has pulled a lot of snake shyt over the years, and people over look such..because he came up.

people refuse to acknowledge shyt like that, cause they see Jay as a father figure.

it's kinda like y'all forget that people can hate just off all the factual shyt Jay has done... for the same exact reasons you can dikkride him.

one doesn't exactly have to be insecure to hate on Jay.
