Biggie was cosigning Jay so hard near the end that when Biggie died, millions of his fans drifted over to Jay Z cause he was the one Biggie said to look out for (How you think Jay went from Platinum to 5x Platinum in 1 year).

if that were the case, then volume 1 wouldve went 5x platinum.

volume 2 sold the crazy records that it did because at least half of the album consists of big hits.

jay was going to move those units whether big & pac were still around or not.

Actually NaS and Biggie were doing shows with Meth when OBFCL was out. Like NaS said on the Message, he didn't agree with Big being crowned the King of NY. Also Quest Love said that NaS was very hurt that Biggie won all the Source Awards over "ILLmatic". But Biggie did give NaS his props and said he felt NaS should of won Lyricist of the Year at the Source Awards:

Interview With Notorious BIG After The Source Awards 1995 - YouTube
Thats not what he actually said. He said that he didn't think that he was going to win lyricist of the year with Nas being nominated. That's a little different than quoting him as saying "Nas should've won". Everybody thought that Nas was going to win it back then, it was a surprise that they have it to Big. He had respect for Nas but Big wasn't bowing to him. He was the self proclaimed KONY after all.

"Ask my man Jigga, My ace boon c00n" - Biggie in 97 (Ace Boon c00n was slang for #1 friend or Best Friend)

Also on Biggie's last interview on Rap City they asked him to give shouts out and he only said His son, Daughter, Junior Mafia and JAY Z JIGGA, THAT'S IT, his word. It's sad cause Big had huge plans for his future and he was planning no bringing Jay right with him. That's why "I love the dough" sounds so celebratory cause those two were about to be on top of the world. Jay is carrying Big's Legacy strongly, he really would be proud. Why do people only think Jay is using Biggie legacy to get props? Jay was an unofficial member of Bad Boy in 97. Biggie and Jay had huge plans together. Big even featured Jay on Lil Kim's debut when he wasn't even that big yet:

Yeah i feel that they were tight from the kinship of music but Jay was acting like him and BIG was rolling together before the rap game even entered the picture.

Any time I've heard Jay mention knowing Big back in the high school days, in his own words, it was "on some 'what's up' shyt". I don't recall him saying they were best of friends back then. He's always said they knew each other but didn't know each other... like how you might know somebody in your neighborhood but y'all only acknowledge each other when y'all happen to cross paths.

Their shyt pretty much kicked off with 'Brooklyn's Finest' like everyone always says... not sure when exactly it was recorded, but from that point until BIG's death they were tight, way tighter than BIG's friendship with any other rapper. That's pretty much documented by everyone.

Jay did than what he does now which is attach himself to the hottest acts out. He really wanted to work with Biggie & Nas at the time because it would be a good look for him & to prove he was on their level. It's all business for Jay

:wtb: false......... clark kent said he played bk finest beat for big, and big was like let me get that, but clark was like no that for jay, clark said he drove big up to the studio that jay and dame were recording, and he went to the studio, and told him big was down there, and he wanted to get that track, and he said jay said no, he didnt want him on it, and said he wasnt paying no high price for a ft from him

so clark went down and got big and brought him up to the studio, and jay already had the theme for the song, and he and big set down to write they verses jay push the pen and pad to big and big pushed it back to him, and both learn that they didnt write, jay wrote his verse in bout a hour, big ended up leaving and coming back 2 week later to record his verse

 stop talkin bullshyt

If your gonna use that story, atleast get it right. It was DAME that did not want Biggie on the song if they had to pay him. Jay never said no. nikkas just make up anything

:why: so u pointing out 1 minor difference that dont even matter at all in the grand scheme of things to u saying some total bullshyt that is 100% false, so jay was hoping on his bandwagon when he never even ask the nikka to get on his song in the first place

I think it was a "real recognize real" thing...Big had the money, success, big records but, he saw Jay and saw homie was next and they connected being both from BK and runnin in similar circles. Sometimes you meet cats when you older and yall vibe better than homies you came up with. Tupac and Treach was road dogs. Meth and Redman. TI and Nelly. 50 and Floyd (not a rapper tho). Even God and J-Reid.

You not a cop J-Reid :mjcry:

I always thought it was funny how Jay came off like his lil nikka at first, though Jay was 2 years older (Dec '69, Mar '72) :russ:

Biggie was co-signing Jay major by the end. He even wanted him in The Commission. Sure they connected on the rap tip but they still connected. I even heard Biggie and Jay would talk everyday in the months before he died. They was obviously planning on making moves, which I doubt Biggie would have been doing if he didn't like Jay

Hov went to school with AZ, then went to school with Busta Rhymes, B.I.G. and DMX. It's a shame these nikkas didn't know each other imagine the cyphers at lunch. :banderas:
