They called us flabby for not giving a shyt about streaming services...I got all her albums right now on my phone :hhh:
why do yall act like both can't happen? i downloaded her albums awhile ago after my cd collection was stolen and after seeing it wasn't available as a digital download or on streaming. for the things that aren't on streaming services, it's not hard to go download or cop the physical yet still use streaming for the vast majority of your listening

Why wouldn't Background or the new label not want to release the music though? They'd make millions off streams per year - why not let it sit for years?

This is from the thread I posted above

There was a Complex article about Blackground. The gist of it was the dude who owns the label (Aaliyah's uncle Barry Hankerson) owes a ton of money from lawsuit a woman filed against him for stalking her, and the label royalties are how he is supposed to pay her, and he's such a weirdo that he would rather just not generate any money through the label than have to pay the woman anything
