My kid is in GT classes (Gifted and Talented, 2 grade level higher). And he gets mostly A's in those classes.

If you're an asian parent and your kid is not at least in honor classes (1 grade level higher) you are a failure as a parent.

When we have interns and they are asians with liberal arts degree i look at them like

Yup, from all the asian friends I know this is basically the mindset. The only other two groups of minorities I know in my area that tend to be on this mindset is Nigerians and Indians. And they also happen to be some of the most successful folks I know (locally at least). Actually Nigerians on average are the highest earning minority group in America because of it.

That mindset of studying for jobs that PAY or otherwise building businesses is huge. I know a Nigerian chick that told me her pops literally smacked her brother across the face for saying he wanted to make music. Doctors only. As of this year I think she's finishing up med school this fall, and her brother walked last spring. Younger brother will prob walk with a med degree in the coming years.

Not saying it's always the right way to go, but having those strict expectations as a kid seems to be working very well for some groups. I'm not mad at it. Might do the same when I have kids.

Also it's not very accurate. They're conning people with those "you're ghanian" or "you're nigerian" reports. I saw a news investigation that came to the conclusion that the best they can say with 100% accuracy is the continent of your ancestry. Anything more specific than that is just a guess. They were talking stuff like "50% probability" when it comes to pin-pointing the ethnic culture your ancestors come from.

2. I've said all along that control of resources and institutions is what dominance is about. In this case, white supremacy in America is defined the same way. The way to fight outside domination is to gain control of those resource and institutions or to create your own. That equals power.Because of the victories by African Americans, of the n Civil Rights Movement, all people who weren't white protestant men, gained greater access to those resources.(capital, educational opportunities, etc)
The groups who benefited the most initially , were the groups of people who were well educated but locked out of access to those resources before Civil Rights legislation ....including African Americans who were from multi generation HBCU grad backgrounds and college backgrounds, jews who were from multi generation college backgrounds, Asian Americans who were from multi generation college backgrounds.

They were the ones in best position to take advantage of the opportunities that opened up. Others not from those ethnic and educational backgrounds were the ones to benefit later.

The groups mentioned earlier have gained the control of resources and institutions that the CR laws were meant to encourage acquiring . They are still in the same system, but they've acquired economic and political power that neutralizes some of the effects of outside domination.
Jews have done the best job of leveraging their power into control.
Some would say that jews in fact dominate the system itself.

Culture. There is pressure on them from their family to do well in STEM. They're not very political people, the only thing that matters to them is what they can control. Everyone gets the opportunity for education here. They just take advantage of it. I'm not saying their inherently smarter than other races. I don't believe that bullshyt at all. In my finance courses the Chinese students used to cheat they ass off. But the pressure to succeed is really high for them.

Compared to us, we don't put those same expectations on our kids. My folks was happy if I came home with a B in high school. My little sister is about to go to college and she wants to be a damn physical therapist. My little brother is focused on basketball to get him a scholarship. They get no pressure for their school work. They're good students, but they could be better. This trend is something I look to end if I ever have kids. fukk that sports shyt. It's all A's or bust for my kids.

I can't speak on the racism front, but they uniformly do better than average across the west for a fairly straight forward reason: economic migration. Asians aren't refugees, nor do they come from extreme poverty. Migrating to America/the West legally is a difficult procedure that bars the lower/middle-income classes of the third world from entering. This means that the vast majority of them entering are people that have money, ability, ambition or a plan of action. When I was in university here in Europe, the majority of Asian students were from Hong Kong whose parents held higher end white collar jobs which wasn't true for the vast majority of ethnic minorities or even the native whites.

I also think their culture should be credited. I was looking into the economic boom of South Korea in the 60's and 70's, and it's impressive how much they sacrificed for the following generation. People lived in complete poverty, yet emphasised education, ensured their children went to school and created a culture where status was correlated directly to education. Want a good job? School. Want to marry a worthwhile girl? School. Want respect from your peers? School. They're stressing their kids to point where their national education ministry have to tackle the problematic suicide rates of students.
