People underestimate the benefits of having a mainland culture and country to draw from. So much currency, culturally, socially, economically, generationally, representatively...

There is a world of difference between a group of people having to CREATE a culture in a completely new environment while being decimated and attacked at every turn, and others coming from already established countries. I don't give excuses to blk Americans who ain't doing what they need to do but the scope of what we face in comparison to these other communities is a completely different animal.

Being stripped of your culture and language is always going to be more devastating that coming to a place where you are demonized but keep your original culture. No one other than black people have experienced what we deal with in this country.

The irony of this thread is that racist conservative cacs don't believe blacks face systematic racism either. And liberal cacs give lip service to the black struggle while helping perpetuate it and secretly feeling that racism against blacks doesn't exist. Asians keep their money in their communities. They have a culture of work with and doing business with their own kind. They even use Asian owned banks. Of all ethnicities, they are the least politically involved but they understand the power of economics. We should take notes from them.

I'm just saying. I'm tired of hearing nikkas talking about poverty growing up. The only responsibility you got growing up is taking your ass to school to get a education. It's not like nikkas had bills too worry about as a kid.

I lived in Hawaii right now. And these Micronesia and Asians are living an way worse condition than any of hoods in Cleveland, Akron, Youngstown from my own eyes. These Asians are broke as fukk. I seen family of 5 living in a single room and another family of 5 living in the next room. A small 2 bedroom apartment with 10 personal household. You'll never know any of this because they're not crying and lying about their tough upbringing.

I'm asian and grew up in oakland during the crack era, so i got to observe both experiences from the inside. True, lots of asians are economically poorer, but we also don't have to deal with generational PTSD, and broken community structure like american blacks do. While we do have glass ceilings in the workplace, we aren't undermined by others in the way that black people are.


The west also puts much more emphasis on individual success than the eastern way of thinking does.

Agree with everything except the last sentence. Black people and specifically AAs used to operate this way, during Reconstruction and Jim Crow era. Adopting these practices in the future would mean going back to the old ways, not copying another group.

In the case of Asian Americans from what I've read they are used as a tactical diversion to shame ADOS by saying "see they are doing well and they aren't white, why can't you?"

Yup, from all the asian friends I know this is basically the mindset. The only other two groups of minorities I know in my area that tend to be on this mindset is Nigerians and Indians. And they also happen to be some of the most successful folks I know (locally at least). Actually Nigerians on average are the highest earning minority group in America because of it.

That mindset of studying for jobs that PAY or otherwise building businesses is huge. I know a Nigerian chick that told me her pops literally smacked her brother across the face for saying he wanted to make music. Doctors only. As of this year I think she's finishing up med school this fall, and her brother walked last spring. Younger brother will prob walk with a med degree in the coming years.

Not saying it's always the right way to go, but having those strict expectations as a kid seems to be working very well for some groups. I'm not mad at it. Might do the same when I have kids.

THIS. You start doing well in school, EVERYONE tries to break you down because they can't stand the idea of a black person doing better than them. I can't speak on the racism front, but they uniformly do better than average across the west for a fairly straight forward reason: economic migration. Asians aren't refugees, nor do they come from extreme poverty. Migrating to America/the West legally is a difficult procedure that bars the lower/middle-income classes of the third world from entering. This means that the vast majority of them entering are people that have money, ability, ambition or a plan of action. When I was in university here in Europe, the majority of Asian students were from Hong Kong whose parents held higher end white collar jobs which wasn't true for the vast majority of ethnic minorities or even the native whites.

I also think their culture should be credited. I was looking into the economic boom of South Korea in the 60's and 70's, and it's impressive how much they sacrificed for the following generation. People lived in complete poverty, yet emphasised education, ensured their children went to school and created a culture where status was correlated directly to education. Want a good job? School. Want to marry a worthwhile girl? School. Want respect from your peers? School. They're stressing their kids to point where their national education ministry have to tackle the problematic suicide rates of students.

There are 3 different asians. East Asians Japan, Koreas, China, etc (WW 1 and 2). SE Asians (Vietnam War), and South Asians India, Pakistani, Bangladesh, (WWIII?).

Each have their own culture, language, and have humongus populations. Combined close to 4 billiion according Worldometers. All races encounter racism against the majority rule which of course whites in this country.

East asians are playing the long game in this country imo.
