Great thread....

I dont think u have to go that far back to see black people still had there specific cadence depending on the region they were from.

That was one part of our culture that I really loved.

And the Part I hate seeing gone.

Everyone sounds the same, or has assimilated too much.

We get made fun of when we speak like that now. Yes, I said 'we'. I'm a 70's baby. Cats assumed I was from the South even though I was raised in the Tri-State area. My entire family sounds like that with a more NY/NJ inflection (to my ears) except for the kids in the generation after me.​

Now, cats either sound like the cast of Saved By the Bell instead of Welcome Back, Kotter, or, like barely literate caricatures of what 'Black' people sound like.​
