college football is the second or third most popular sport in the country. no matter how many cfl games are being shown on tv, it's not going to compare to the exposure a player will get playing at a top college.
and anything before the nfl is all about getting your draft stock as high as possible. you want those dudes on espn talking about you every saturday.. you wanna be in the heisman discussion. no one gives a fukk about the cfl mvp. you want exposure.
for the top recruits.. the millions are waiting. it's just about how many millions. cfl salary is chump change compared to what these guys are after.
for the middle of the pack guys.. you need that media exposure to get discovered. you need the nfl scouts watching all of your games.
for the bottom of the barrel.. just get that college education and be out. maybe you take a chance at the cfl afterwards.
nike isn't going to throw the bank at a guy playing a predominantly american sport in another country. nothing will compare to what they're going to get if they're successful in college.
plus, they're 18 years old. there's not many places where you're gonna have more fun than on a college campus. and if you're a star athlete?
i don't know about the d-league though. i'd guess it's for similar reasons. no one watches that shyt and the benefits of beasting in college >>> beasting in the d-league.
