How come Reggie Bush didn't live up to his potential?

Coming out of USC I thought breh would be the truth. He was (and probably still is) the most exciting player I ever watched. He had vision, speed, agility, And he was drafted into that hyphy Saints offense, he should have been a transcendent player.

What happened? :jbhmm:

He didn't have the speed advantage he had in college. He wasn't as quick and his shiftiness wasn't there. Danced on the hole and hit the hole full speed too much.
Should have moved to slot

This. College football is a joke because of the talent discrepancies. At USC Bush could do whatever he wanted bc he was just faster and better. Put up against equal competition and his flaws came out. I still root for him though.

Injuries sapped him of his full potential really. Still got a chip though so that counts. He def will go down in history as a couldve been/never was though.

Saints had the best o-line in the league when he was here
They weren't as dominate over the rest of the NFL defensive lines as USC's offensive line was over the rest of the Pac-12's offenseive lines.

remember how great lendale white looked behind that offensive line?

definition of a tweener. Even at USC he wasn't an every down back with LenDell White there. He didn't have to pick up those between the tackles yards and get the hard 3-4 yard drive sustaining gains. Plus he was running behind the best lines in the country with weapons around him so he was always at the second level. In the league if you can't run patiently or be tough inside you get relegated to being a 3rd down back and that's what it was for him. He was a good receiver for an RB but he wasn't going to just go play WR straight up so they had to manufacture ways to get him the ball and defenses could key on him. I do give him props for being able to humble himself and carve out a long career as a role player
