How come Reggie Bush didn't live up to his potential?

There are 128 Div 1 football schools out there, there are 32 NFL teams. He wasn't playing the best of the best in college, he did in the pros.

It's not like he had a bad career either, sort of like a better Eric Metcalf

Lendale White was the true RB at USC Reggie was the game breaker. Both where good both 1000 yard rushers at USC. But ESPN did overhype Reggie like he was the next big thing and the Texans knew he was overhyped.

He did get a ring tho but not as an every down back.

I think he just bought too much into the Barry Sanders hype. He could run between the tackles but didn't want to. He would rather dance around and try to make the highlight run. I think he was just a victim of that, because he had as much pure talent as any RB in history.

He did live up to his potential...I see some of yall already knew what his potential was.

To me, he was great with the ball in his hands in college but I knew he'd get equalized in the pros. Dude barely ever had to pick up the tough yards. Look at the 'ship game vs UT...who was the workhorse back? Who did they constantly use to pick up the first downs? USC had a BUNCH of overrated players from that era tho...

Taylor Mays

Very few of those "playmakers" made plays outside of SC. So to me, he lived up to be exactly who I thought he'd be. A change of pace/scat back with a few highlights but no sustained success. I honestly thought LenDale would've been the better pro but dude couldn't put the Patron down...Oh well, I don't worry bout them. My guys (Hurricanes) usually are gamers at the highest level...even our backups get drafted and play well... :yeshrug:

went down too easy, im not gonna say size. Tomlinson/Sanders/Charles/Westbrook and many others weighed less than him, just had better IQ and ran harder

he also played the 2nd half of his career with a piece of his brain knocked out
