I hear what you're saying, but I think people underestimate how Huntsville is just hitting it's stride in growth. And it's always been a growing city for the past 50 years, but the last decade turned up a notch, and this next decade looks like it's going to be even bigger...It ain't just black folks that love to move here.
I thought it was nothing there but a bunch of prisons. Everytime I hear about Huntsville its because someone is going to see someone at the prison

Last few winters been extremely mild:yeshrug:

we haven’t had a legit bad winter in at least 4-5 years. It’s been recent years when it was in the upper 50s in December or February

you might get an occasional cold snap/polar vortex type stretch for a week or so in January but after that it be straight.
It there is a bad winter this year it going to be a wrap. I already seen a video with a bunch of white people saying they bout to dip. Im in Sugar Land now and its crazy how many different state tags I see.

If you aren't educated or have family ties, there's not a reason to.

If you're lower income, you would end up in the hood.

There's areas in the South with a lower crime rate and lower cost of living, so your money would go farther.
Yeah, this ain't the old days when people went to the Chi for those good industrial jobs.

Couple of my friends are putting me on that Chicago is bubbling with I.T...I can't fukk with the winters. Let global warming do its thing and we might have a deal.
On the flipside, you can wear some of the flyest clothing....if that's your thing.

Plus, indoor activity and entertainment is lit all over the place. So many options. Or you can chill in your mancave with the heat on blast with a cold piece while eating Harold's and watching Netflix.

The only real negative about winters is the commute to work

There's also another small but interesting factor to moving to Houston. If you are a federal employee with a full time work from home position, Houston has a higher cost of living adjustment than the DC area despite the housing being cheaper in Houston. The reason for this is that NASA has to compete with them oil and gas companies for engineers.

And the best paid feds live where? | Federal News Network

Chicago is expensive as hell. Even if you could afford a house, you get more bang for your buck in Houston. Chicago houses are damn near apartments because they so close together and yo backyard be small as hell. You need bout $500k to get a decent house with land in Chicago. $500k in Houston is a baby mansion
