Overall being a kicker isn't that bad. Except if you have to kick a field goal for the chance to win a game. If you make it everybody on your team is like

and your coach is probably going to be like

I don't know if I could handle that sort of pressure. I always felt bad for that kicker for the Vikings when they lost to the Falcons to go to the Superbowl in 99.

It ain't the money.
I bet it has more to do with the glory. How do most kickers come up? Like, do most HS kickers just kick? I doubt it. They probably can't see much of the field otherwise so they start to hone that skill, whereas the better athletes hone the skills that'll have them play more.

they gotta make at least the league min which is like $400,000.
I'd rather make that and be a good kicker than take my chances being a 3rd string LB journeyman year to year
