To be honest I'm not even sure what "EDM" refers to, since the term isn't really used in France. I know you know your music, how would you qualify for example what Soulection does? Stuff like this track from Sango
or Stwo
Nxxxxxs (obviously inspired by Southern HH)
Skence
There's obviously HH influences all over, I usually call it instrumental hh even though it doesn't really fit imo![]()
Man...the underground is where the hot shyt is at.We neec mainstream ones like calvin harris.
@IllmaticDelta true indeed in Belgium those genres have been big for ages (which I guess explains why there are so many festivals), as well as in France to a somewhat lesser extent.
yepBecause EDM is a made up term by White Americans who don't understand anything bout non Indie music.
EDM for most part is just crass commercial Dance music(Trance, White folk House, White folk trap, that thing they call Dubstep) that Black people were never in the first place.
In America unless its Soulful House, you ain't gonna see too many Black folks period(djs and partygoers) outside of Detroit.

electronic dance music is bigger outside the USA sice the 1980s because America carries the legacy of the anti-Disco backlash
All right yeah I get it now...I actually saw a documentary (can't remember the name) that talked about this, I had no idea that happened in the US before watching it.
I take house music into consideration from a social and cultural point of view as well. and the rejection of disco nearing the end of the 70s is as American as Baseball and Apple Pie.This shyt is crazy
Reading a little about this on wiki, the whole dynamics behind it is really interesting from a cultural/social point of view

Jermaine Dupri was called "broke" and "DJ'ing as a last resort to make money"
Til y'all realized how much dudes like Tiesto,Skrillex and Steve Aoki were making.
