How could going to a HBCU possibly benefit me more than a PWI would?

You don't network with people you go to college with. I'm not talking friends here. I'm talking companies. You think many of the best companies, statistics wise, have HBCUs on high on their lists when it comes time to recruit for internships/jobs?

I don't have hate for HBCU's, however, some of them need to get they s**t together ASAP. It's sad when some(that shall remain nameless)can't handle simple administration. Having said that there are great HCBU's that handle business. The trick is to get into the ones that have well connected networks, which sadly aren't many. Fortune 500 companies do recruit from the black Ivies and HBCU's with highly rated engineering programs, but it's harder to get into corporate America(if that's your thing)with a degree from Tougaloo than one from Fisk, Hampton, ect.

These white corps are only doing it to satisfy the AF quota.. They don't give a F..... in reality. You would have better visability at a PWI.... but at what cost? Not saying that's better either

Lastly going on a slight tangent.... We need more black enrollment... in college.. period. If the US has a 13% black population, then I would like to see 80% of college-aged people enrolled and complete a degree. If they went to a HCBU, then that would be better.

We aren't talking about those institutions. Maybe I should clarify. We are talking fukking Auburn. Duke, Stanford and other top tier institutions speak for themselves. Auburn doesn't. Don't mistake football prowess for academic prowess.

I'm trying to teach in this area though. That degree might benefit me greatly.

Going to Auburn could help you a lot in Alabama just for going there. The impact isn't as big as the other schools but it's still there

We are talking about institutions. It's a fact that several HBCUs don't have their business in order. If I'm paying more than $50k per year, some of which will be loans, I would at least want the front office to be in check. Doesn't matter what I think though, as long as OP makes the best decision for him.

I dont want anybody to think I wasn't considering going to Tuskegee too. I was, heavily.

But after a lot of reading and taking other things into consideration I chose Auburn.

I'm not sure how that means I have less pride or don't want to be around black people though
