How could "True Detective" have had such a massive falloff?

The writer thought he was what made season 1 special. Reality is, season 1 was special in spite of him. It was the acting and directing that did it. He thought he was Bobby Brown leaving New Edition but he was more of a Nicole Scherzinger leaving the p*ssy Cat Dolls.

The writer got hit with plagiarism allegations at the height of season 1's popularity.

Most fans were willing to give him the benefit of the doubt until season 2.

After season 2 it seems pretty obvious the allegations were accurate.

I think Pizzaloto is a bit of a emperor with no clothes situation.....and I think he was so arrogant, he implied that 'True Detective' (S1) was nothing special, when in fact it seems likely he spent years writing that....considering that debacle that was season 2.

Colin and Rachel had decent chemistry and were compelling. If the show had focused on them and lost the soldier I think it could've been better.

But yeah, Matt and Woody had crazy chemistry
