Yep The OP basically started his senior year as a 16 yr old. That is NOT the norm, at least where I’m from.

Everyone started their senior year at 17, and turned 18 throughout the school year. The ones that were still 17 when they graduated, was due to their birthday occurring during the summer time.

Some of yall are are just not informed. Different states have different guidelines when it comes to school enrollment.

Some states follow school calendar (begins in september, ends in august) whereas others go by the year you are born.

It also varies for elementary and middle schools. I went to a kindergarten to 6th grade elementary. Middle school was just 7th and 8th. High school was 9th to 12th.

My birthday is late October, my parents didn't want me to stay in preschool another year so they put me in private school, so I was always younger than everyone. I had a friend in class that was born two days after me, but the year before me.

"Technically" I was supposed to be in the class after me.

I know in Florida if your birthday is after August, you have to wait the following year to start school. My son started pre K as a 3 year old bc he was born in August. He’ll be 17 in college for a few weeks before he turns 18

He would still be 17 at the end of the school year (May or June 2021) and would turn 18 in December of this year.

That's the result of a school system that uses January 1st as the cutoff for entry to school. Whereas if he went to school with a August or September cutoff, he'd still be in high school and would enter college at 18 going on 19.

at ya’ll debating this. But yea you’re precisely right. My birthday is in December and it was May when I graduated out of high school. So when I started College the September I was still 17. And I obviously didn’t have my 18th Birthday until December.

Where I’m from we don’t do that cutoff thing tho..my older sis is also a December baby and went through the same process…
