J. Cole never cared about the charts. 4YEO didn't even have any real singles. He's all about touring because that's how and why he blew up the way he did. It's why he defied radio. He never was into that. He's currently at a point to where he knows his albums are going to sell platinum regardless and he uses his songs purely to set up his nationwide/international tour. It is also why he makes more than any other rapper in the game right now, because he tours excessively. He rarely takes breaks. That is what he's all about now.

He may be like that now but “he was never into that” ??? :mjlol::mjlol::mjlol: Are we gonna ignore his feeble attempts with the with the songs with Missy, Trey Songz, and a couple manufactured joints on Born Sinner (even tho that’s one of my favorite Cole projects)? nikkas definitely care about exposure. Maybe not to that Drake Top 10 on charts every time he drop degree but you can bet nikkas is tryna reach more audiences. That’s how you increase that tour money even more by tapping into new markets.

Guys I think that sound wise rap has just died out. We are getting older so it isn’t the same
I dont agree at all the underground scene is HUGE with alot of rappers touring and releasing projects, you have rappers who get no radio time and the avg mainstream rap fan knows nothing about, Myke Eagle, Roc Marciano,Evidence, Phonte, Cyhi to name a few who still do decent being indie and are dropping classic material and you also have rappers/groups like RTJ, Royce,Nipsey,Flatbush Zombies, Joey Bad,Pusha etc who are either relatively unknown to somewhat known in the mainstream who sell out bigger shows, sell more physical copies, and have a more dedicated fan base then 90% of the "hot" rappers out now.
