Em was always a novelty act. 
He came in the game like Adam Sandler in Happy Gilmore, an outsider making a joke of the culture. Suge Knight said it best when he said Em was the new Weird Al Yankovic. How could anyone take any of his music seriously? 
Oh that’s right, he’s fukking white in a white majority country that has run on white privilege for hundreds of years. Eminem is textbook example of white privilege. His stans are the type of people to deny white privilege exists when even Eminem’s admitted that if he was black he woulda sold half and that he was the new Elvis. And his stans often don’t even listen to rap music, Em is the only rapper they fukk with. Or they assign Em music as more “lyrical” because he doesn’t say “nikka” and he raps about doing drugs instead of selling them and he raps about killing bytches instead of fukking them.
Musically Eminem has always been mediocre at best. His beats are low quality nerd ass basement beats that would never be heard if he was a black artist. This cracker Marshall Mathers hasn’t been relevant in 20 years. The only reason people took him seriously in Hip Hop was because of the Dre co-sign. Eminem is not that different from fukking Vanilla Ice. He’s an icon of white mediocrity. He’s like the swagless white guy in every commercial with a black wife. He was put there because of the color of his skin and his relatable corniness to the average corny cracker.
