Relapse is his best album hands down and idgaf what anyone says. It's just something different about it, Dre was in his bag and Em's "No f*cks given" style with the funny voice was in hindsight the birth of the funny voice rappers, he fathered that style you can almost say. It was his most coherent as well, if he would've stuck to that, we'd be looking at him different :ohhh:

...He stopped treating music like art and started treating it like science...

It started going downhill when he started screaming into the mic full-time and producing his own beats. The talking about thongs didn't help either.

So right after MMLP :manny:

He doesn't care about beats or melody. All he gives a shyt about are masturbatory flow patterns packed into as many pockets as possible regardless of what it sounds it. And his lyrics are just corny. Parts of this verse actually sound decent flow wise but the robotic shyt still feels like a fukking car crash. Just drive the car and take the turns that are given to you man.
The musical version of body dysmorphia

And selling 3 million every time you put out a project probably doesn't help either.

I feel like Relapse and MMLP2 were the last moments of Em's career where he had a bit left in the tank. From the melodic harmonizing sound to the non apologetic lyrics, it was like a last hurrah.

Once he realize his fanbase will buy anything he shyts, whats the point of giving that 100 percent again, when you can provide 50 and get back 150.

His best music was inspired by being mad at the world for being poor, having a dysfunctional family and being addicted to pills and booze. Then coming to grips with being famous.

He's had nothing to say for almost 20 years now

people keep running with the "wHeN hE sTArtEd mAkiNG HiS oWn bEEtZ" narrative because they're followers fishing for daps.

his prime is said to be between '99-'03.

TES and 8 Mile OST (his songs) are often regarded as his best shyt and he produced damn near all of it.

not to mention Devils Night and his appearances on GRODT and Cheers.

if anything, rapping on other producers' shyt (post-Relapse - present day) prolly made him feel the need to get all extra with everything.

he works best on Dr. Dre, Bass Brothers and his own production. Not too busy and sparse enough for him to be more laid back with the flow.
